Following on from Matt Gregg's heroics at the weekend (and, ironically, our reserve keeper scoring for the reserves the previous week), how many other keepers have scored in the league?

Only ones I can think of off hand are Dan Connor in the Cup semi for Waterford against Derry, and I've a vague recollection of hearing about Alan Gough scoring a goal kick for Shels in a 5-4 away win against either Athlone or Monaghan back in the mid 90s.

Didnt Gary Connoughton (sp?) score from a goal kick too a few years back?

John Young scored for Finn Harps against Waterford in the 69/70 season. Kicked the ball from the edge of his own penalty area, it bounced once in the Waterford half, over Peter Thomas' head and into the net.

Charlie Neligan (the Kerry GAA keeper), scored for Home Farm against Harps from the penalty spot in the 77/78 season.

Any others?

How is that ironic?

Go back to college you bum.

Eddie Hickey scored for Limerick against Galway United when the ball bounced over the infamous Eddie van Boxtel's head from a kick out.

In one of our first season's in the league our keeper finished as our top scorer as he also took penalties!

The late Alec Ludzik scored from a kick out (not sure if it was out of hands or off the ground) for City, I think in the early 90's.

I was in Kilcohan that day to see Youngs goal...very wet and windy...think Waterford went on to win 3-2.

Yes, at home to Dublin City, I think. May not have been DC, but he definitely scored.

Yep it was against Dublin City ... he caught the ball and let fly ... wind caught it and it sailed over Paul Floods (I think) head. He was well off his line and had no chance

I believe Chippy Devlin was a set-piece taker for Bray though I've never seen him play myself, pretty sure he's scored a few.

Mark McNulty, Citys 2nd choice keeper is a fairly handy forward as far as i know, so much so Dolan was always focusing on his training as a forward. He played a few friendlies etc. in that position as well.

Dave Henderson scored for Pats in a league cup tie with Home farm in about 1987/88. We won 3-0

It would've been from his hands - you can't score directly from a goal kick.

Nope, that was our other goalscoring keeper, Billy Brennan.

Didn't hear one song about him at the time though.

Meant in Ireland, although it's worth nothing that Mark Crossley has scored twice (and one was a quality glancnig header).

Obviously further afield, you have the likes of Chilavert and Campos.

Dan Connor scored a memorable penalty for us in our F.A.I. Carlsburg
Cup Semi - final against Derry at the Brandywell in 2004, that goal saw us
reach the final that year
