match played yesterday, used as a trial , and recovery games for some limerick players. Used a a preseason friendly for Pike.
Pike won 4-1.

With some of the players on trial, Limerick will need to look elsewhere for better talent.
Good to see paddy purcell get 80 mins under his belt!

In fairness we know the current A team aint up to much at the moment. Good news on Paddy though.

As far as I know a proper game with Pike is lined up for next month.

It wasn't even the full A squad. I think it was used as a trial game for some new players. Not taking anything away from Pike though, Heard they were good.

Ye had some players out of position but a decent core team playing, Nabs(2) and Barry(1) gave the 2 centre backs a terrible night. Pike were only missing 5 though.

Will be an intresting one. I don't think the difference in standards between the teams is much to be honest. Fancy Pike to knick it maybe 2-1.

A mixture for of A players and senior players in the two teams we put out today.

I must complain that it was a shocking decision to risk injury to our players in the wet weather playing against such sub-standard opposition.

Surely a training session or a few pints in The Still House would have been more beneficial.

I'll put up the Limerick team incase any Pike players are wondering just what those blurs were going past them:

Dave Ryan
Tommy Barrett
Craig O'Hanlon
Paddy Purcell
Eoin O'Brien
Jason Hughes
Bobby Tier
"Yellow" Lyons
Lil Dave Ryan
Gary Sheehan
John Tierney

SUBS:

Peter White White White for Craig O'Hanlon
Kevin Fitzpatrick for Dave Ryan

Not sure what the story was with the Aishling game, I do know Paul Finucane played for Limerick though.

Think a lot of people should have gone back into their boxes today and to avoid disgracing themselves should probably stay there for some time.

not wanting to bust anyones bubble, but seem to remember pike beating us in a munster senior cup game in the late 80"s,billy hamilton, walsh, coyle, etc, full squad.and if that was not enough star beat us the following year 3-2,the winner,a johnny mullane screamer from 30 yards,we then went and signed him.went on to play with us for about 8 years, first as a striker, before replacing peter coyle at right full

I`ve wiped my hands of lim37, between the blinkered clowns who come on here who don`t have a clue about soccer to the teams poor showing which people actually pay to watch.
Robbery in my view to pay to see, what seems to be a university and aisling reunion of players and management to keep fit for the summer holidays before college starts up.

Yet you still refer to yourself as a supporter by your use of the avatar. You should at least take that down to avoid confusion don't you think?

As for the 'blinkered clowns' that come on here...well I thought a forum was a free speech entity where people could be as pass remarkable as they wished, and also express their own opinions, just as you seem to be doing.

Perhaps you should talk more about the inept football you refer to, and what you would do to change things on the pitch, rather than cry like a kid who lost his last euro about it.

Each to their own I suppose....enjoy your junior football. Perhaps now that you have no time for Limerick 37, you'll p1ss off to the junior forum where you will no doubt find things more down at your own level.

This is the same Limerick who beat the Premier champions 5-0, without ever leaving first gear and without a few key players the other day??

Are you even trying to suggest that that team wouldn't walk the Junior League with 20, 30, 40 points to spare??

And you come on here accusing others of knowing nothing about "soccer"

Think the problem SLK is that the situation tends to go from bad to worse, back to bad and vice versa. And yes the sign of a real fan is when you stick by your club in the bad and worse than bad times but i feel the lack of support for the club comes more from the off-field financial problems more than anything else. Hopefully that is sorted now but only time will tell. The sad thing is that because of this the on-field exploits of the team are ultimately suffering as is the fan base!

Ah yeah I'm not disputing we get bigger crowds when we do well. They're still fairly miserable though in the greator scheme of things. Which isn't a specific Limerick problem but a problem nonetheless.

'The club is not being run right' is just another in the long list of excuses people in this town give for not supporting their club, if we were throwing money we didnt have at a team that was flying we'd have big crowds regardless, whats trying to be done at the moment is the right thing to do even if its not great on the pitch sometimes so I guess we gotta hold tight for a while.

Agreed, but don't you think that the club's financial problems in the past couple of years has been because simpliy the crowds have not being coming through the gates. If people who claimed they know something about "football" had supported Limerick over the years then Limerick would be in a better position both on and off the field.
