He was named man of the match too.
Keegan:
"He's been working very hard. It's the first time he's had a pre-season - and it shows. It looked like he could run forever.
"The goal today is not the sort of goal you associate with Damien Duff but his fitness level is fantastic, he has really trained hard, and he is now getting his rewards."

Looked like Valencia didnt expect him to score with his head either, the marking was shocking. Great to see him back fully fit, he is still out best player when in form so hopefully things are looking bright

Steven Reid and Keith Treacy started for Blackburn in their 1-1 draw with NAC Breda. Treacy got the assist on the equaliser, and seems to have impressed in preseason. Aaron Doran and Alan Judge both came on as subs, so Blackburn finished with 4 Irish players on the pitch.

Good to see Reid played in midfield now that Rovers have signed Simpson because he had been playing right back so far in pre-season.

More O Shea knocking for the sake of it... very boring at this stage.
He did fairly well today

O'Shea had a good game today - not that I'd want him at CM for us (he's better at full back).

I forgot he was on the pitch until he was mentioned at half time

No it's not knocking for the sake of it, I've been neutral on O'Shea on this board, I truly get depressed when I see O'Shea line out for United. Firstly I was never on the bandwagon about O'Shea being the next Paul McGrath, and I honestly feel sorry for players burdened in this way by dumb hacks and fans. But what annoys me is just his mediocrity and his complacency. He is at the club for one reason and that is he is Mr Flexible. He is content being a back up now year after year, Mr Squad Player. He won't leave for another club where he could become a regular and make a real contribution. And basically he just isn't very good.

C'mon mate, cut him a break. He's winning a Champions League medals and making thrice as much money as he would be if he played regularly for a club like Bolton, which is more his level of play. He knows as well as the rest of us that once he hits thirty Alex Ferguson will cut him loose and he'll end up on the books of some team like Portsmouth or Sunderland even. Right now, he's getting some of the best coaching in the world, playing for the biggest club in the world, and and he's getting paid good good money to be Ferguson's insurance policy in case any player gets injured. He negates the need for Ferguson to waste a spot on the bench for a back up keeper, and he doesn't really need to have any defenders on the bench either, as O'Shea can play literally anywhere on the park, even up front. I don't think much of his playing ability, but he's in shape and training at the highest level. Hard to knock him over a guy like Hunt, who has far less ability but who plays every week.

To be honest, I look at O'Shea and I think to myself what a waste of talent. Okay he is a bench/squad player at a great team, but the guy has world class potential for christ sake.
As a Liverpool fan, I honestly thought in the first 2 years of his career he would blossom into one of the best defenders in the game.
He's a classic example of a guy who had it too easy and got complacent. As well as his footballing ability i heard he has alot of academic ability and business interests outside football. He never looks like he'll burst a gut for either united or ireland and is always content to go through the motions.
