I was speaking to some lads at the wekend and was surprised to here that at least five clubs at some time this season failed to pay their players, is there an automatic sanction from the league for this and is this covered in licensing Im not sure if the league get involved
Is it true that St Pats players haven't been paid in weeks because Michael Keane keeps breaking into the office and eating the wage cheques?

:D:D
Back to the topic at hand, who are the 5 clubs? Waterford, Cobh, Galway (do they count as they just said they wouldn't pay some of their players wages?) and who else? Limerick for once aren't going to be apart of this list.....we really need to get a smiley face that dances a jig of joy :)

One of the rags (I can't remember which one) reported we were late with wages earlier in the year but it was a fabricated story. Either the paper or the PFAI made up 'quotes' from Aidan Lynch and Trevor Vaughan to put in the story. A statement from the players and our CEO on the club website confirmed that wages had been paid on time.

I know of 2 for definite - Waterford obviously plus one other (but may be just one player at that club).

Please don't just assume anything Martin ! Our players are paid fully up to date but money is very tight granted and that is why we have had to get player of the wage bill.

Nah, he has eaten all the pies though. :D

Don't know about that Marty, as far as i know all the players on the payroll at the Town are paid up on time every week. I know we have a big squad but a lot of them are amateur and not getting paid, maybe just expenses. Don't think you can count expenses cos they won't be stipulated on a contract as they won't always be the same every week. The club will be ok (no fines or anything) cos they are not missing wages.

There's no sanction for it as it could simply be an admin error. Most clubs operate a very small admin staff and with 20-30 people due to be paid, it may not get done properly.
Of course it shouldn't happen but it obviously does (as it does in other fields)
Pats players didn't get paid at least once this season (paid twice the following week I think)

that makes sense but what happens if a club misses say three or four weeks

If players' wages are 4 weeks late (or is it 6?) then they are entitled to leave the club as free agents.

I think it might be two consecutive weeks
