ok we all enjoy seeing him fool about on MNS and in the papers with his views but whats ur views on him as a manager. hes prob doing himself out of EL jobs due to his media rants and what not. Is it time he went back to management if anyone would have him ? He did a good job at Bohs when he was in charge and he is ambitious which the EL could do with more of. whats your thought on this guys as roddy as a manager ?? Looking forward to Rico coming back aswell. Come to rovers if / when cook moves on please

My only concern would be the apparent joy he gets from recounting stories of the number of players that he 'had when they started' or 'had as a young lad'. Surely that's cause for concern. :D

Roddy's a clown, his ego is too big for any club. He did himself out of any chance of getting a job a long time ago. The only way he's getting any job is if his mates buy a club for him.

Shoddy's mouth is writing cheques that his ability cannot cash. China, its the only way left for him now. If you are reading this Roddy .... China, you know it makes sense !!

Duggie, would you not be very disappointed if Cook left?He seem to be doing a great job?
Roddy is very good on MNS but his reputation as a manager has been going downhill, and if given another opportunity, he would have to do a lot to convince people he knows what hes doing.

oh i dont want cook to go but i think he might. more players on the way out and has no money. think he said he and gerry carr would decide at the end of the season what to do. has done a great job with no real money.

I could see a swap with Pat Scully. A few rumours doing the rounds that Rovers are interested in Cooke and Scully could probably do a decent job for Sligo before falling out with the entire population.

He won't manage a top LOI club again. Too many bridges burnt & the others not stupid enough to hire him.

Roddy is clearly a sh!t manager. If he was a half decent one he'd have a job.
And he's a shocking gobsh!te.

End of story.

Methinks he's just doing a Dunphy most of the time - he's an againstivist, a contrarian. He thrives on controversy.
He loves the fact that we are talking about him now regardless of what we say.

spongebob nailed it. He's trying to market himself as Dunphy's successor at RTE, nothing more, nothing less. He's a **** manager who hopefully will never work again. If MNS had any sense they'd hop him out the door as well, it's not like he's going to attract any barstoolers, and he's quite likely to turn off regeular LoI attendees from watching. Never relegated achievement and all he's a clown :)

i think scully would go to Sligo if the situation arose. a few in sligo think he should have got the job prior to him joining kilkenny. a good manager who would stick around for the long term , instead of the short term importation policy that's there now. However I expect Cooke to stay on for another season and I expect Scully to be at Shamrock rovers for a while to come yet.

That always cracks me up. Mention any player at all and Roddy is sure to pipe up with "yeah Con I worked with him back in the day. Great lad". I swear if Ronaldinho's name popped up Roddy would be giving it "yeah Con I worked with him back in day at Gremio. Great lad".

Anyone who employs Mr. Collins, much like those who use Mr. O'Leary's 'service', deserve what they get..

And in most cases (Boez excepted, naturally), they get it.

Most of us have had a go at Roddy over something he's said over the years. However, it must be acknowledged that he's get a hell of a lot of things right. One of the things he got right was his prediction in relation to Galway United. While everybody else at the start of last season were singing Galway's praises and saying what a progressive club they were, Roddy was the first and the only one I was aware of, to say that it wasn't going to work and it was going to end in tears. He was 100% right. Look at the mess that club are now.

It's also good that he says the things that manages would like to sat but they can't due to the SS faction within the FAI.

Well done Roddy, I say.

In my opinion, it is a mark of one's intelligence on what they have to say about Roddy Collins.

The original poster was obviously in the back of the queue when they were handing out brains. ;)

Pa Dolan was also saying it, both were saying it also last season, mainly down to the fact that both of them were going for the GUFC job when available over the past couple of years and were rejected for inexperienced candidates IMO. sour grapes and all that.

Dream on Terry. Dolan wouldn't have touched that Galway job with a 40ft pole, and I doubt Collins would either to be honest.
