They were thinking that it wouldnt be productive bringing in players on loan and should be building for the long term. Id agree in an ideal world but we couldnt possibly refuse if we could get him in fairness.
Oh and he's Cork traitor filth! (only joking) ;)

He hasn't made any sort of breakthrough yet so I doubt Mathews will have any problem letting him go.

It was the Munster Cup. He hasnt even made the bench yet in the league. What kind of a player is he?

He's decent. Has a bit of potential, although will never be a great player in my opinion. I reckon personally he got a little too much hype when he was with us, because he looked good in a very very poor team. The season he played with us, for all the talk, he only scored twice from play, with a few penos thrown in. Part of me believes Ski took him to Cork to rub our noses in it.

he did in his bo**ix,ski could see the undoubted talent in john tierney.his not an out and out striker and will never score 25 goals a season but his general play, first touch, movement, fitness and attitude are very good.a very good young player who will only get better at cork training full time

How old is he? If he is as good as you say then he should at least be making the bench ahead of Behan, and he's not. I agree with you about his touch, and he's a good lad to watch, but he's not going to be back page headlines on any papers...

Behan is an experienced player who has scored some important goals, would you pick a novice ahead of him on the bench? bar bohs behan would get into every other teams forward line in the EL

To suggest that John Tierney wouldn't be worth a place around the club ahead of the likes of Manjor and Hayes is nonsense. A certain amount of preciousness from an element of our support that are still aggrieved at Johnny boy's decision to leave our forward thinking regime of splendour to go and try his hand with a little club called Cork City perhaps?
On an aside, I'm away for a while, I come back and see's it is making perfect sense with every post? What happened there like? :D

I wouldnt have Behan ahead of any Derry striker
He looked handy enough in the MSC game but he's a long way from first team football. Might do him good to go on loan.

He served his automatic one game ban for the red card a few weeks ago, this time its for reaching 8 yellows (I think from the same game where he got those two yellows).

He'd be better off getting a straight red then?

In fairness to him a few of his recent yellows were dubious, but I'd say his disciplinary record is on a par with the effort he's been putting in to make up for the shortcomings of others, particularly earlier in the season.

When you get a red for two yellows, the two yellows are rescinded.

I have few reservations about Tierney, he's still got to be a great addition though.
One of my reservations, for example late on v Longford - why did he try to shoot through two defenders and keeper instead of passing to the ball to Walsh who was in a better postion unmarked just a few yards to his right.
Anyways I'll reserve judgement on him til he's had a chance to settle in - maybe he'll win us a few penalties, they seem to have dried up recently!
