If muppets are going onto the Cork section with the only intention of winding up Cork fans why not move the thread to thesection belonging to the club the fan comes from. A lot of those sections on here aren't that busy, those who want to keep going can follow it there, while it won't be annoying those Cork fans who don't want to know. If the thread is then deleted by the moderator of that forum, the offender will then have been dealt with by one of their own so will have less cause for complaint.
I didn't send this by PM in order to allow others to comment.

can equally be applied to City fans going on Pat's/Rovers forums to wind them up....
good suggestion tommy t, the only problem is that you're then dictating where people can post which i think might take from the idea of the forum.
also in some cases there's a thin line between truth and wind-up. some of the stuff that we've taken offence to isn't neccessarily that far off the mark.

What about a new forum just for users with alot of bottled up rage and just wanna let fly a few other teams fans??
Could have the language moderator thingy turned off for extra effect.

Sorry TommyT, I've been meaning to get to this.
Basically there's no one solution to the problems we occasionally have to deal with. Sometimes we have no problem with a cross-club flame war because it's obviously good-natured and no-one's getting their panties in a twist about it. Other times it's intended as fun but some people take it the wrong way. Still others it's malicious but the thread starter doesn't see anything wrong with what they're doing.
And if that's all we had to deal with, our jobs'd be pretty easy. We could stick each thread into a fixed category, deal with it according to defined rules and Robert's your father's brother, the job is oxo. It doesn't work like that though, for better of for worse. As an example, I did exactly as you suggest with a thread in the City forum the other day and got a boll1cking for it. And rightly so, because I was wrong.
My solution for the moment is that if a post is obviously a troll, and it'd not a very good troll, and it's causing disruption, then it should be moved into the eL General forum. That's where inter-club rivalries should be fought out in my opinion. And of course if it gets messy, off to the crapper with it.
tiktok, I think there has to be a certain level of dictating where people can post, otherwise we might as well just merge them all back into one and stop moderating altogether. Although that being said, it's not where people can post but what they can post in certain places. I like the club forums the way they are and I hope they'll continue to grow, but it would be a shame for them to turn into free-for-alls.
Cityace, it sounds like a lot of fun but it doesn't really work. Most of the time you just get garbage posted in there, and although that doesn't sound like such a bad thing - after all, that's what it's for - it usually ends in hassle when people take offense to what's said in there. It's not very good for the community is what I'm saying.
One thing they do on Boards.ie is have a Prison forum, where you get locked up when you've been naughty. Even that's pretty crap.
Thanks for the feedback folks. The experiment will continue apace. :)
