No polls this time, just post your favourite lyrics of all time (at the moment of course, all entertainment questions have changeable lyrics, anyway mine are from Leonard Cohen's Suzanne

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone

"Frankly i'd feel more fulfilled, making Christmas cards with the mentally ill"

"Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking when I said I'd like to smash every tooth
In your head,

Oh ... sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking when I said by rights you should be
Bludgeoned in your bed"

"She said : "Eh, I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

"And you have never been in love, Until you've seen the dawn rise, behind the home for the blind"

and pretty much most Morrissey lyrics

Or basically every lyric from the song "Rubber Ring" by The Smiths.

If I walk down this hallway, tonight, it's too quiet,
so I pad through the dark and call you on the phone.
Push your old numbers and let your house ring,
'til I wake your ghost.
Let him walk down your hallway, it's not this quiet,
slide down your receiver, sprint across the wire,
follow my number, slide into my hand.

Scorn Not His Simplicity

"See him stare
Not recognizing the kind face
That only yesterday he loved
The loving face
Of a mother who can't understand what she's been guilty of

How she cried, tears of happiness
the day the doctor told her it's a boy
Now she cries tears of helplessness
and thinks of all the things he can't enjoy

Scorn not his simplicity
But rather try to love him all the more
Scorn not his simplicity
Oh no"

Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska

I saw her standin on her front lawn just twirlin her baton
Me and her went for a ride sir and ten innocent people died

From the town of lincoln nebraska with a sawed-off .410 on my lap
Through to the badlands of wyoming I killed everything in my path

I cant say that Im sorry for the things that we done
At least for a little while sir me and her we had us some fun

The jury brought in a guilty verdict and the judge he sentenced me to death
Midnight in a prison storeroom with leather straps across my chest

Sheriff when the man pulls that switch sir and snaps my poor neck back
You make sure my pretty baby is sittin right there on my lap

They declared me unfit to live said into that great void my sould
Be hurled
They wanted to know why I did what I did
Well sir I guess theres just a meanness in this world

This little ray of sunshine from the Manics still demands your attention.............

"Of Walking Abortions"

"Life is lead weights, pendulum died
Pure or lost, spectator or crucified
Recognised truth acedia's blackest hole
Junkies winos whores the nation's moral suicide

Loser, liar, fake or phoney
No one cares
Everyone is guilty
F*cked up, dunno why
You poor little boy

We are all of walking abortions
shalom shalom we all love our children
We all are of walking abortions
Shalom shalom there are no horizons

mussolini hangs from a butcher's hook
Hitler reprised in the worm of your soul
Horthy's corpse screened to a million
Tiso revived, the horror of a bullfight

Fragments of uniforms
Open black ruins
A moral conscience
You've no wounds to show
So wash your car
In your x baseball shoes

We are all of walking abortions
Shalom shalom we all love our children
We all are of walking abortions
Shalom shalom there are no horizons

little people in little houses
like maggots...
The massacred innocent blood stains us all

Who's responsible, you f*cking are
Who's responsible, you f*cking are...

"Do you realise, that everyone, you know, someday, will die...
..and instead of saying all of your goodbyes,
Let them know you realise that life goes fast,
Its good to make the good times last,
You realise the sun don't go down,
Its just an illusion brought by the world spinning round..."

Faithful Departed - The Radiators/Christy Moore

This graveyard hides a million secrets,
And the trees know more than they can tell.
The ghosts of the saints and the scholars will haunt you,
In heaven and in hell.

Rattled by the glimmer man, the boogie man, the holy man,
And livin' in the shadows, in the shadows of a gunman.
Rattled like the coppers in your greasy till,
Rattled until time stood still.

Look over your shoulder, hear the school bell ring,
Another day of made-to-measure history.
I don't care if your heroes have wings,
Your terrible beauty has been torn.

Faithful departed, we fickle hearted,
As you are now so once were we.
Faithful departed, we the meek hearted,
With graces imparting bring flowers to thee.

The girls in the kips proclaim their love for you
When you stumbled in they knew you had a shilling or two.
They cursed you on Sundays and holy days of abstinence,
When you all stayed away.

When you slept there a naked bulb hid your shame,
Your shadows on the wall, they took all the blame.
The Sacred Heart's picture, compassion in his eyes,
Drowned out the river of sighs.

Let the grass grow green over the brewery tonight,
It'll never come between the darkness and the light.
There is no pain that can't be eased,
By the devil's holy water and the rosary beads.

You're a history book I never could write,
Poetry in paralysis, too deep to recite.
Dress yourself, bless yourself, you've won the fight,
We're gonna celebrate the night.

We'll even climb the pillar like you always meant to,
Watch the sun rise over the strand.
Close your eyes and we'll pretend,
It could somehow be the same again.
I'll bury you upright so the sun doesn't blind you.
You won't have to gaze at the rain and the stars.
Sleep and dream of chapels and bars,
And whiskey in the jar.

Faithful departed, look what you've started;
An underdog's wounds aren't so easy to mend.
Faithful departed, there's no broken hearted,
And no more tristesse in your world without end.

James - "Sometimes"

It's a monsoon, and the rain lifts lids off cars
Spinning buses like toys, stripping them to chrome
Across the bay, the waves are turning into something else
Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore
The boy is hit, lit up against the sky, like a sign, like a neon sign
And he crumples, drops into the gutter, legs twitching
The flood swells his clothes and delivers him on, delivers him on
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul

I'm one of five born to my mother,
An older sister and three young brothers,
We seen it hard, we seen it kinda rough.
But always with a smile, she was sure to try to hide,
The fact from us that life was really tough.

I can hear my mother call, I can hear my mother call.
Late at night, I hear her call. Oh Lord, I hear her call.
She says: Father, father, it's for the kids, any and every thing I did.
Please, please, don't judge me too strong.
Lord knows I meant no wrong, Lord knows I meant no wrong.

Then the Devil sang: Would you like to dance with me?
We're doing the Cosmic Slop.

She was well known through the ghettos,
Tricks would come and then they'd go.
The neighbours would talk and call her Jezebel.
But always with a smile she was sure to try to hide,
The fact from us that she was catching hell, hey.

I could pick so much from Springsteen, but this is my current favourite.

Now the greasers, ahh they tramp the streets or get busted for sleeping on the beach all night
Them boys in their high heels, ah Sandy their skins are so white
And me I just got tired of hangin' in them dusty arcades, bangin' them pleasure machines
Chasin' the factory girls underneath the boardwalk where they all promise to unsnap their jeans
And you know that tilt-a-whirl down on the south beach drag
I got on her last night and my shirt got caught
And they kept me spinnin' baby, they didn't think I'd ever get off

Oh Sandy, the aurora is risin' behind us
This pier lights our carnival life on the water
Runnin', laughin' 'neath the boardwalk with the boss's daughter
I remember Sandy girl
Now now now now now baby

Kinky Afro by the Happy Mondays, possibly the best 2 opening lines to any song ever........

Son, I'm 30
I only went with your mother cause she's dirty
And I don't have a decent bone in me
What you get is just what you see yeah
I should so I take it free yeah
And all the bad preserves be things that feed me
I never help or give to the needy
Come on and see me

There's tons, but these are the first few that came to me.

"And I stare up at her window, as I walk down her street
But I never made the first team, I just made the first team laugh
And she never came to the phone, she was always in the bath"

Billy Bragg - The Saturday Boy, also Billy "How can you lie there and think of England, when you don't even know who's in the team" Greetings to the New Brunette"

Is it worth it ? A new winter coat and shoes for the wife,
and a bicycle on the boys birthday,
it's just a rumour that was spread around town
By the women and children, soon we'll be shipbuilding

Well I ask you, the boy said "Dad they're going to take me to task
But I'll be back by Christmas"
It's just a a rumour that was spread around town
Somebody said that someone got filled in, for saying that people get killed in the result of this shipbuilding

With all the will in the world
Diving for dear life, when we could be diving for pearls

It's just a a rumour that was spread around town
A telegram or a picture postcard
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyard
And notifying the next of kin, once again

It's all we're skilled in, we will be shipbuilding

Elvis Costello - Shipbuilding (about the Falklands War - and the irony that many of the north of Enlgand shipyards were kept open to build ships to send their sons off to be potentialy killed.)

"Been watching so much TV, I'm thinner than I should be
Just a waterlogged ball, that no one wants to kick around anymore
An all day morning hair do, that no comb can get through,
It's all granola and beer, a calling card and a silk cut souvenier

I miss you like sleep, there's nothing romantic 'bout the hours I keep
The mornings when it starts, I don't look so sharp, now I've got a heavy heart

Talk a lot about football, and girls I kissed in grade 4
**** off my friends, I'm digging a hole just staring at the floor
Now every t-shirts got a wine stain, I'm loving cigarettes again
I know every tune, about guys n girls n hurts n hearts n moons

I miss you like sleep, there's nothing romantic 'bout the hours I keep
The mornings when it starts, I don't look so good, now I've got a heavy heart

It's just a low rent paying, palpitating, pump inside my shirt
But there's a weight that's sitting , so hard, god it hurts, oh it hurts"

The genius of Electric Six shouldn't be overlooked. The inescapable primacy of music in life delivered simply and directly. I give you Synthesizer:

You can shake it all around
You can go up and down
You can lose what you found
But you can't ignore my techno

You can go west or east
Confess your sins to a priest
You can slay the wicked beast
But you can't ignore my techno

You can go to the doctor
You can cough in his face
Infect the whole human race
But you can't ignore my techno

You can laugh you can cry
You can live you can die
Spend your days asking why?
But you can't ignore my techno

You can trip on my synthesizer
Electronic world for every boy and every girl
You can trip on my synthesizer
In the end technology onto the world that set us free

Be all that you can be
Just as long as you are free
You were blind and now you see
That was just my techno

You can trip on my synthesizer
Electronic world for every boy and every girl
You can trip on my synthesizer
In the end technology onto the world that set us free

You can trip on my
You can trip on my
You can trip on my
You can trip
You can trip
You can trip on my synthesizer
You can trip on my synthesizer
Let's go.

The pawnbroker roared
Also, so, so did the landlord
The scene was so crazy, wasn't it?
Both were so glad
To watch me destroy what I had
Pain sure brings out the best in people, doesn't it?
Why didn't you just leave me if you didn't want to stay?
Why'd you have to treat me so bad?
Did it have to be that way?
Now you stand here expectin' me to remember somethin' you forgot to say
Yes, and you, I see you're still with her, well
That's fine 'cause she's comin' on so strange, can't you tell?
Somebody had better explain
She's got her iron chain
I'd do it, but I, I just can't remember how
You talk to her
She's your lover now.

I already assumed
That we're in the felony room
But I ain't a judge, you don't have to be nice to me
But please tell that
To your friend in the cowboy hat
You know he keeps on sayin' ev'rythin' twice to me
You know I was straight with you
You know I've never tried to change you in any way
You know if you didn't want to be with me
That you could . . . didn't have to stay.
Now you stand here sayin' you forgive and forget. Honey, what can I say?
Yes, you, you just sit around and ask for ashtrays, can't you reach?
I see you kiss her on the cheek ev'rytime she gives a speech
With her picture books of the pyramid
And her postcards of Billy the Kid
(Why must everybody bow?)
You better talk to her 'bout it
You're her lover now.

Oh, ev'rybody that cares
Is goin' up the castle stairs
But I'm not up in your castle, honey
It's true, I just can't recall
San Francisco at all
I can't even remember El Paso, uh, honey
You never had to be faithful
I didn't want you to grieve
Oh, why was it so hard for you
If you didn't want to be with me, just to leave?
Now you stand here while your finger's goin' up my sleeve
An' you, just what do you do anyway? Ain't there nothin' you can say?
She'll be standin' on the bar soon
With a fish head an' a harpoon
An' a fake beard plastered on her brow
You'd better do somethin' quick
She's your lover now

From Another Radio Song by Okkervil River:

Bless this tiny alley
we have fallen from tall buildings
we have fallen through the air
into a garden sweetly smelling
of the softest sleeping flowers
now they sit under the sidewalk
now they're waiting for the shining
of some future sun to show us
all that is your beauty
oh, and all that brings you pleasure
I could sigh into your hide
and say I hope I'm here forever
but black sheep boy
with your lovers
with your list of favorite pillows
with your list of missing children
with the wall where you drew windows
overlooking hidden gardens
cut apart by jagged mountains
climbing up into the air
and crumbling down into a fountain
where the water waits forever
like a quiet distant treasure
when you rise up to recover
when you leave this tiny alley
when you meet me in the garden
with your horns all hung with cedar
every spirit brushing past me
brushing past them in the ether
scream all this is window dressing
all you are is flimsy curtains
watch you flame up with a word from us
and won't know that you're burning
burning
burning

A Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash

"A Boy Named Sue"

My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue."

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue."

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew.
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue."

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do!
Now your gonna die!!"

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.

And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you "Sue.'"

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name!

God knows how freddy came up with thse lyrics

Is this the real life ?
Is this just fantasy ?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico

But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
Bismillah! No - we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
For me
For me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters - nothing really matters to me

Anyway the wind blows...

"I look to the east, I look to the west
To the north and the south, and I'm not too impressed
Time after time
After crime after crime
They raped, robbed, pillaged, enslaved and murdered
Jesus Christ was their god and they done it in his name
So he could take the blame if it's not all a game
With bible in one hand and a sword in the other
They came to purify my land of my Gaelic Irish mothers
And fathers, and sisters and brothers
With our own ancient customs, laws, music, art
Way of life and culture
Tribal in structure
We had a civilisation
When they were still neanderthal nations
We suffer with the Native American, the Indian in Asia
Aboriginal Australia
The African people with their history so deep
And our children still weep and our lives are still cheap
You came from Germany, from France, from England
And from Spain
From Belgium and from Portugal
You all done much the same

You took what was not yours
Went against your own bible
You broke your own laws
Just to out do the rival
But did you ever apologize
For the hundreds and millions of lives
You destroyed and terrorised
Or have you never realized
Did you never feel shame
For what was done in your country's name
And find out who's to blame and why they were so inhumane
And still they teach you in your school
About those glorious days of rule
And how it's your destiny to be
Superior to me
But if you've any kind of mind
You'll see that all human kind
Are the children of this earth
And your hate for them will chew you up and spit you out

You'll never kill our will to be free, to be free
You'll never kill our will to be free, to be free
You'll never kill our will to be free, to be free
Inside our minds we hold, hold the key"

Colony.

Manic Street Preacher - 4st 7

Days since I last píssed
cheeks sunken and despaired
so gorgeous sunk to six stone
lose my only remaining home
see my third rib appear
a week later all my flesh disappear
stretching taut, cling-film on bone
I'm getting better
Karen says I've reached my target weight
Kate and Emma and Kristin know it's fake
problem is diet's not a big enough word
I wanna be so skinny that I rot from view
I want to walk in the snow
and not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
and not soil its purity
stomach collapsed at five
lift up my skirt my sex is gone
naked and lovely and 5st. 2
may I bud and never flower
my vision's getting blurred
but I can see my ribs and I feel fine
my hands are trembling stalks
and I can feel my breasts are sinking
mother trys to choke me with roast beef
and sits savouring her sole ryvitta
that's the way you're built my father said
but I can change, my cocoon shedding
I want to walk in the snow
and not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
and not soil its purity
Kate and Kristin and Kit Kat
all things I like looking at
too weak to fuss, too weak to die
choice is skeletal in everybody's life
I choose, my choice, I starve to frenzy
hunger soon passes and sickness soon tires
legs bend, stockinged I am Twiggy
and I don't mind the horror that surrounds me
self-worth scatters, self-esteem's a bore
I long since moved to a higher plateau
this discipline's so rare so please applaud
just look at the fat scum who pamper me so
yeh 4st. 7, an epilogue of youth
such beautiful dignity in self-abuse
I've finally come to understand life
through staring blankly at my navel.

Clapton

If you wanna hang out you've got
to take her out, cocaine
If you wanna get down, down on
the ground, cocaine

She don't lie, she don't lie,
she don't lie, cocaine.

If you got bad news, you wanna
kick them blues, cocaine.
When your day is done and you
wanna run, cocaine.

If your thing is gone and you
wanna ride on, cocaine.
Don't forget this fact, you can't
get it back, cocaine.

Again?? Is this a joke?

People posting their favorite lyrics without even known who has wrote them. JJ Cale wrote "Cocaine" not Eric Clapton.

Or maybe they are just referring to the version they are most familiar with , For shame!

No they're not, they think that the people they mentioned wrote those songs.

For shame is right.

For the worst stretch rhyming from one of the greatest bands:

"Tell me the story of Old Cuchulainn
Of his features dark and his expression sullen"

Yep. Lyrics by Elvis, music by Clive Langer (No, he wasn't from Cork ;))

Anyway, another one just occurred to me. I haven't a clue what it's about, but it's bloody great - Pack of Lies - Cathal Coughlan (There may be a couple of mistakes in there, but it's what it sounds like to me)

They first met at the hospital, she was checking out for good
Her body patched but past repair and there her angel stood
She was feeling quite confused now that her death was close at hand
She had to face eternity so why not this mumbling man ?
Who got himself a wedding suit at the local barroom sale
It belonged to some old Turkish man who had owed and gone to jail
He would coax her mind with talk of love then make her body kind
These people hate the truth you know they need their pack of lies

Growing tired of being foreign, being spat on and short changed
He demanded that she leave with him for the land from whence he came
They were herded on like cattle to a ferry at high tide
This unkempt ageing orphan and his helpless dying bride
But he left her at the other shore crying on the deck
She had slumped against the rail as he had struck to free his neck
The custom shed was empty as he made his way inside
There were no chimpanzees in uniform to hear his pack of lies

Now she’s ascending into heaven with contentment on her face
And holy God is there to greet and batter her into her place

Ah but meanwhile back on earth it seems the prodigals returned
And they’re making him the Chieftain and they come to him to learn
How the neighbours in the rich land better steal and kill and lie
When they ask who holds the weaklings there he just shrugs and says “not I”
They’re surrounded by diseases as to target my health
I could have been important, if I’d been somebody else

The moral of this story is this lands a victim farm
Don’t you ever feed a beggar here, he’ll eat your ****ing arm
Don’t blaspheme the strong ones if you want to stay alive
Now smile and give them thanks when they say “here’s a pack of lies”

Speaking of Clapton (Junction) and Cocaine:

Time flies by when you're a driver of a train, Speeding out of Trumpton with a cargo of cocaine. I get high when Im a pilot of a plane. Touching down in Camberwick, I’m stoned out of my brain.

Under bridges, over bridges, to our destination. Careful with that spliff, Eugene, it causes condensation.

Every saturday I get the Chigley skins. And they always smash my windows 'cos the home side always wins.

Time flies by when you're a driver of a train, Gonna get my syringes out and crank up once again.

Under bridges, over bridges, to our destination. Careful with that spliff, Eugene, it causes condensation

The Smiths - How Soon Is Now

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way ?
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Oh, of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way ?
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

There's a club, if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home, and you cry
And you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen "now"
Well, when exactly do you mean ?
See I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way ?
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

Not sure if this was mentioned before but if so its worth another mention

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.

Bass! how low can you go?
Death row, what a brother knows
Once again back is the incredible rhyme animal, the uncannable,
THE public enemy number one
Five-O said "Freeze!", and I got numb
Can I tell 'em that I really never had a gun?
But it's the wax that the Terminator X spun
Now they got me in a cell 'cos my records they sell 'cos a brother like me said, well...
Farrakhan's a prophet that I think you ought to listen to
What he can say to you, what you ought to do
is follow for now, power of the people, say,
Make a miracle, pump the lyrical
Black is back, all in, we're gonna win
Check it out, yeah y'all, here we go again

Turn it up, bring the noise!

Oh, and loving the Elbow tune One Day Like This at the minute, timely. :)
"Throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year'd see me right"

These words inspired me when my marriage was ending:

Kiss me where the sun dont shine
The past was yours
But the futures mine
Youre all out of time

Stone Roses - She bangs the drum.

Also love:

I don't need a platter, I'll take it straight from the shelf
Give it to me raw, I'll take it home and cook it myself

The Stunning - Brewing up a Storm

Belief is a beautiful armour
but makes for the heaviest sword
like punching underwater
you never can hit who you're trying for
some need the exhibition
and some have to know they tried
it's the chemical weapon
for the war that's raging on inside

John Mayer - Belief

For my eldest son:

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Yeah sorry Calico forgot to put that in. My eldest son is called Dylan Robert after the man himself and that song captures my wishes for him. My younger son is called Jacob which turns out to be Bob's son's name too but he is named after another Bob I love and has Marley as his second name.

There was no need for an apology, I wasn't trying to be critical in any way... sounds like you're a Bobcat, so you'll appreciate this... a few months back kids from a creche in New York told their parents that an old man came to visit the creche that day and he sang them some nursery rhymes and also taught them how to sing F/Young... turned out the old man was Bob and one of the kids in the creche is Jesse Dylan's son....
