Are the FAI doing away with 10 position to pay one man.

If that happens, what are the expectation of Rooney, the next world cup final shipping Brazil 4 nil.

€250 million plus 5% bonus on business generated (something like that anyway)

Can't see 10 blazers only being on €25grand each..... 5% of business generated leaves 95% to the FAI which seems fair enough....

Fran Rooney in my mind success will not be measured on the national team.... Sorting out the fiasco's and in fighting that seems to happen every few years (and again now) in terms of the structure of the FAI will.... As will getting the stadium with IRFU.... eL wise hopefully he'll get more involved in the structures as well, if oily and others will give up the power, and sort out proper marketing of the league.....

The fact that someone is leaking means that Rooney is obviously having an effect and making changes within the FAI - someone obviously doesn't like it....

I've no problem with his basic if he delivers the goods, and a bonus scheme based on money brought in should pose no problems as its money that the existing shower could never generate.
So much for Genesis, etc, the first sign of real change, positive change in my opinion, and the daggers seem to be coming out. The sooner that the self-serving blazers are eradicated from Merrion Sq the better!

i tink 5% is a bit much, maybe 3% would be fairer

definetly need the blazer boys to get pushed out or given performance targets themselves

the marketin of the league (and cups) really needs improvin

imagine hearin the league of ireland football results first on tv and radio before hearin the results from england/scotland. a small change yeah, but it would help a lot

All depends really on how much the bonus is.

If he brought in an extra €5m then he'd get €250k of that which seems ok. I presume if he brings no more new money he will no bonus.

I presume if he brings no more new money he will no bonus.

Not a presumption I'd make. Sadly, this isn't how corporations work these days, the whole point of being a CEO is to get a non-performance-related package with pensions and move on as quickly as possible. This is supported by large and/or institutional investors because the rich like to help each other out. I'm not saying Rooney is doing this, but I'd like to ask the details. You can't believe the rhetoric coming out of the FAI, the blazers can't be trusted.

I've no problem with paying someone a good basic to run the FAI, and having a generous bonus scheme, but only if it was performance based, where he'd be rewarded for improvements to FAI and EL finances, and for increasing exposure for the Irish game.

unfortunately, as adam pointed out, a performance related bonus structure is rare for the upper echelons these days.

I don't believe it's about the money for one second. The blazers don't wanna give up any power and are trying to force Rooney out by using money as an excuse. He wants genises implemented and that won't go down well in the corridors in merrion sq.

It needs to be carried out though, whatever about FR basic, that report we all heard about for so long needs to be nailed down.

I hope this doesn't drag out.

Anyone got any updates on the situation.
