Tralee native Darren Dennehy (19) has moved from Everton to Cardiff. He's a very tall centre-back, a regular in the past few u21 squads. He was offered a new contract at Everton but chose to move on in search of regular first-team football.
There's a video on the Cardiff website but one needs a subscription to view it. So here are a few quotes culled from my local paper instead: "I just want to play some games now and I think I have a good chance here. Once I spoke with Cardiff manager Dave Jones and chairman Peter Ridsdale, I was convinced the move would benefit me. Everton were very good to me, but the prospect of joining Cardiff was too good to turn down. The manager is planning to sign another striker and I think that will give us a good chance for promotion."
All the best Darren!

didn't realise Hereford are actually League 1 now...not too bad a move then if he starts getting regular games...

Willo Flood:
"There's some unfinished business to attend to as far as I'm concerned. That's how I feel after the disappointment of losing the CIS Cup Final to Rangers last season.
There's a cup to be won by this club sooner rather than later - hopefully it's this season coming.
I think there's a lot more to come from me. That was my first season playing week in week out. I can only improve and by that I mean adding a lot more goals to my game.
That's the main thing missing right now so I'm going to keep working on it in training in the hope it can come good in games.
Barry Robson scored a lot of goals and he's one I could look to and learn from."
Craig Levein:
"A lot of people underestimate Willo because of his size. But he's got the heart of a lion.
He stands up to guys who are twice the size of him. Nobody has the kind of guts and determination he has on the pitch.
That's always been with him and that's why he's able to fight people twice his size.
It's a great signing on the evidence of last season. Looking back, Willo actually missed most of pre-season training last summer because his wife was expecting a baby.
After a slowish start I think he showed everyone why he was coveted by a lot of top English clubs at the age of 16.
The thing about the SPL compared to any league down in England is players get more chance to play football up here.
We've got smaller guys like Morgaro Gomis and Danny Swanson who also thrive because they get a bit more time on the ball.
And if you look at most of the other SPL clubs, like Hibs, Hearts, Motherwell, Falkirk and Aberdeen, they all like to play as well.
That means players of a smaller stature like Willo can be more influential with the ball at their feet.
His wages went up in the summer so you obviously have a fear you might not get him for another season.
I've still got to thank Cardiff for their part in the deal, both Dave Jones and Peter Ridsdale.
As for our own chairman, he pushed the boat out by putting more money in. Eddie is Willo's biggest fan.
He loved watching Willo in action for us last season, like everyone connected with Dundee United."

Of all people I can't believe he's married. :D

Both Flood and Hunt impressed me last year for Dundee Utd. They had a relatively good season and were very hard done in not winning the CIS cup. Bearing in mind some of the championship players (that admittedly Ive not had much chance to see) that have been included in recent squads would these two not have deserved a chance in the friendlies? they werent even in the orginal squad of 40 announced in April. By comparison O'Dea (a different position I know) who hardly kicked a ball last season was included.

Yes but defence for us is a weaker position. Realistically the chance of Hunt breaking into the team is small. I would rather call up Mooney of Cork.

Im in Manchester and as much as I love to travel to watch Celtic and Ireland and any other footie I can - convincing the mrs that Im off to Dublin to watch Dundee Utd play a few pre-season friendlies might just be the very excuse she needs to play Mrs Bobbit next time we do role play:D

Redknapp is a big fan of Wilson, but he needs to push his way into the first team this season. His switch to the centre-back could be useful for Ireland, should he progress this season.
Maybe Trap should call him up to the senior squad to wind up the ifa & Howard Wells  Or maybe Nigel Worthington will try calling him, again:eek:

His international career mightn't be over just yet;) It is interesting that Keane would bring him in, a future goalkeeping coach at the club, and maybe not in the too distant future:confused:
