Was it Bigfoot?

Maybe a millipede Bigfoot.

There is a large archipelago, including coves and inlets, all the way north to Juneau Alaska. Alot of the shore is uninhabitated and/or is covered in trees.
There maybe alot more out there then has been found at present.

Unfortunately its probably down to the tsunami. rubber shoes are pretty durable and the rest of the body will have disintegrated, leaving the shoes, and the feet they protect, floating free.

Eaten, I would have thought.

Well yeah, but eaten sort of implies being gnawed off by a shark or something. A large animal would've swallowed the foot, shoe and all. The ones showing up across the pacific are most like the lucky ones only having been eaten by micro-organisms, or disintegrating so to speak ;nothing just disintegrates, at very least its being broken down by bacteria. The bloated foot pushing against the tight rubber would've kept a lot of them at bay.

So basically, you're agreeing with me, but trying hard to find an argument?
Typical, GZ. ;)

haha! No, just defending my choice of words (all my posts are thoroughly considered and vetted by my better self to ensure compliance with the MAB standards), and guiltily enjoying some gruesome micro-zoology, Bill Bryson-style. :)

Could be mid-sized fish though (I say mid-sized; bigger than bacteria and smaller than sharks - goldfish-sized fish, say). Have a bit of a nibble here and there, can't get in at the feet because of the runners, eventually the rest of the body falls off and we have our present situation.

Mid-sized fish live almost exclusively in coastal regions. The tsunami would've pretty much cleared all the small or mid-sized fish. They'd have been swept away or would've gotten as far away from the doom as possible. Post-tsunami, the coastal waters would've been muddied, and majorly lacking in oxygen. Fishies no like. Now, for a body to get across the pacific ocean, I'd imagine it would have to escape tidal currents pretty quickly; most like as an after effect of the eddies caused by the tsunami. The dead body bloats because of internal bacteria, but is dragged quickly out to the open sea where nothing but lost sharks and migrating sea turtles are. Untouched by fish, the body mass starts to be devoured by the ocean-going algae and plankton, with most of the stuff exposed biodegradable. The bit unexposed now floats into another coastal region, but the mid-sized fish are now paying it no heed as it looks like a bit of plastic.
Now, I'm no expert, but I think we can all agree, that it is highly unlikely than I am wrong in any way :D

They finally found where I've been burying my enemies.
A new plot is needed....
Hey, there's a lot of unspoiled Canadian wilderness to be put to use. Just mind the bears.

You're assuming it is a tsunami victim. While that was my first thought too, it could quite easily be something like a plane crash or a boat sinking or a series of murders. Though don't know how likely it is you'd get six feet from a plane crash. That said, we don't have any stats on the number of feet annually washed up on shorelines, so we don't know if this is especially unusual.
Worth noting too that the first four feet were wearing socks and runners, which I wouldn't have thought would have been that common among locals in the tsunami area (assuming locals were the vast majority of the victims).

Well with five feet washed up so far, one more and they will certainly fathom it.:)

Maybe it's a cunning marketing strategy for the re-release of the Daniel Day-Lewis version of "My Left Foot"...

They've all been right feet bar one. I reckon that one'd have a good change. ;)

Given the foot related name of this forum, perhaps one of the feet under discussion could be donated as a prize for Post of the Month?

Actually Hop and Hop don't you mean (as they're all right feet)........so if someone bought the shoes, would they do him a right turn?;)

The Herald (I know, I've burnt it now) claimed that the sixth foot has been dismissed as a hoax. Someone shoved an animal foot into a shoe. The 'article' claimed that this was poor form as people with missing relatives in the area were waiting on news. I don't know whether that's wild speculation from the 'reporter' or based on how the local police are thinking.
