Week ending August 17th is cup weekend. I assume teams knocked out won't be playing that weekend? Unless there is friendlies arranged. Definitely no league games though?

No, never is. Semi-final weekend is the only time when there is a clash with league fixtures.

You'll have to find something else to do that weekend.

Anyone else think that the first weekend of June was way to early for the cup to start??

Absolutely.

They should write last weekend off and start the whole thing again in August.

Wasn't it a fop to the intermediate sides as they thought start of June was better than middle of July

Unfortunately, this squeezes the rounds into a short time period, and there is no continous flow to the climax of the league games. After a significant cup win clubs may wish to dwell on it a little and benefit from increased league gate receipts.

The June date is more natural after the previous rounds earlier in the year.
Common comments about tired squads at the end of a long season were quoted this year from non-league back room staff.
