Bray Wanderers striker Eamon Zayed has been called into the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad for next week's friendly clash with Poland in Gdansk as a replacement for the injured Jon Daly.

It is Zayed's first ever call-up to the Under 21 panel having made his first ever appearance for Ireland at any level when Brian Kerr called him into the Under 20s for January's Four Nation Tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Zayed was one of the stars of the tournament as he scored two goals and created another as Ireland beat the United Arab Emirates and France to win the competition and the former Leicester City striker will be hoping to claim a place in the Under 20s for November's World Youth Championships, having been named in the squad when the competition was originally scheduled for March.

Zayed began his career with Broadford Rovers before moving to St Joseph's Boys where he was part of a hugely successful team alongside fellow Republic of Ireland underage stars Stephen Brennan (Newcastle United), Graham Ward (Kidderminster Harriers) and Joe Kendrick (1860 Munich).

After having trials with Arsenal, Zayed moved to Leicester City but he returned to Ireland in 2002 with Bray where he has earned a regular place in the first team.

Revised squad: Connor (Waterford United), Deeney (Notts County), Brennan (Newcastle United), Kelly (Tottenham Hotspur), Cryan (Sheffield United), Byrne (S****horpe United), Capper (Released by Sunderland), Kohlmann (Borussia Dortmund), O'Connor (Brentford), Gilroy (Scarborough), Doyle (Coventry City), Thornton (Sunderland), Keegan (Leeds United), Hoolahan (Shelbourne), Walters (Bolton Wanderers), O'Flynn (Cork City), Zayed (Bray Wanderers), Elliott (Manchester City).
