View Full Version : Cashmans Bookmakers in the X
anyone know why the cashmans bookmakers dissapeared with trace from turners cross after only 1 match there. i thought twas a sucessful enough thing and a good laugh on matchday
was is due to licences or lack of them or what?
It was strange alright that it was there for the UCD match but then gone.
There was no tax on the bets there, which was strange, I asked yerman who was running it, he said that it wasnt actually a bookies in the Cross, that officially they were just allowing people to send in telephone bets throught their little shack in the cabin. I.e. you fill out a betting slip and they phone in the bet for you, but they were taking all the bets then phoning them in at the end of the night.
Seemed kinda dodgy as it was, like to see it back tho'.
Another City initiative down in smoke??
Never got a chance to avail of it but sounded like a real good idea even if have to the betting tax. Would be real good publicity for Cashmans also.
Paddy Powers are always at Lansdowne so can't be too difficult to get a licence...?

maybe it was due to some licenincing laws, perhaps they only they rented out the gaff from the freindly folks of the m.f.a. for only that match.
It would be nice to see it become a regular feature alright, it was a good bit of fun the night it was there.
Well it was a home win that night so I imagine they didnt make any
money at all.
I for one would like to see them return. Nice to have a punt on the
night
brendan
they will b back d shades put a stop to it and they have to get a licence for it. it will return as soon as dey get d licence
yeah i'm hearing the reason it was stopped was because it was started in the forst place without a licence..
