I'm not entirely sure about the nearest to the station but if O'Connell Street is a 5 minute walk away and then there are loads of buses that go to Dalymount. (4 | 10 | 120 | 19 | 19A | 38 | 38A | 38B | 38C | 39N | 83 )

How rushed are you?

The journey's about a 20-minute walk.

Will be full of beer and O Connell Street will be a bit of a sweat.

You can check out this map: http://www.dublinbus.ie/your_journey/city_centre.asp

But I'd say your best bet is to walk it, go to O'Connell Street for the bus, or if there's 3 or 4 of you get a taxi. It would be around EUR9 from the station.

You could get a LUAS to Abbey Street, just off O'Connell and get any of the above buses, plus the new 140.

The 39N is the Nitelink but yeah all others go from O'Connell st which is about 100 yards from the front entrance of connolly
you could walk it from Connolly to Dalier in roughly 15 mins. come out the front entrance of connolly turn right and keep going until you get to Croker by then you'll be able to see the floodlights of dalymount. head up the north circular past Mountjoy Prison on the Right and the Mater Hosp on the left and Dalier is about 200 yards further on

Don't think that sentence makes sense, but Busáras is barely 100 yards from Connolly, let alone O'Connell Street. Sure two LUAS stops don't even take you from one to the other! 500 yards would be about right.

It's about 700 metres - I'm too young to be using yards...

Its about 300 yards from Connolly to Gardiner Street and then another 500 to O'Connell Street!!

I'd walk it, it will be almost as quick as a bus. Store Street onto Talbot Street, up Gardiner Street, cross Dorset St and round the North Circular to Doyles Corner.

Nice little walk.

It depends on whether Alan Kelly is pacing it.

Turn Right at Connolly, walk to 5 lamps(honestly!) & turn left. Follow the road to Dalymount - route 1.59 miles will take 30 minutes.

Alternatively, if you know the roads, the shortest route is Talbot st, Gardner St, Hill St, Temple St, Eccles St, NCR, Dalymount - about 1.45 miles, but still best part of 30 minutes

& that http://www.mapmyrun.com/ is the business! - good find

On the Friday of a Bank Holiday? Depending on the time you may as well crawl and you'd be still quicker.

Cheers lads for all the info. The train broke down at Maynooth, ended up getting the local train as far as the Pheonix Park Station and the bus from there.
