Does the "6 seconds" rule still apply?

Not sure where to put this thread as its in football in general but i put it here.I put it here because at E.L games is wherev ive seen the most blatant infringes of this rule.Last night in Terryland pk and a few weeks ago i counted the keeper holding the ball a number of times for 8/9 seconds.Does this rule about the keeper not holding it for more then 6 seconds still exist anymore?

it's like GAA, the ''3 step rule'' it's not exacly 3 steps but you get the idea of how long is acceptable in your head!!.

I have never seen it applied to be honest. I've seen goalies regularly holding onto the ball for 10 seconds or more without any action taken been taken.

Something else the refs (probably the linesmen moreso) dont seem to worry too much about either is goalkeepers handling the ball outside the area when kicking the ball upfield. Regularly you see keepers straying slightly too far before releasing the ball.

... or free kicks being takien from the wrong place, or throw ins being taken incorrectly, or frees not being given when a defender is clearly illegaly blocking an attacking player fom getting the ball.. the list is endless.

The keepers are definitely taking liberties recently. Glen Crowe is always drawing the refs' attention to it but to a man they pretend nothing's going on. Headwrecking.

Derry keeper was awarded a free against him for the 6 second rule at The Brandywell a few years back. And the referee that game was from the Irish league for some mad reason.
