I will settle for those results after a very poor performance last night in Kildare all the teams below us in the table lost or drew.

Athlone 1-0 up away to Waterford, Colm Jinks.

Stadium announcer gave out Jinks as the goalscorer but I can confirm it was Nigel Keady who after 207 league appearances finally broke his duck and scored his first ever competitive goal.

Colm Jinks wasnt within 10 metres of the ball when I checked out the video

............ with John Gill ?

There were boos after the match last night and a few calling for his exit alright. I feel that nothing less than promotion will see John Gill in Oriel Park next season, if he lasts that long..

Are you absolutely sure about that BR? Will have to change all the match reports if so, it wasn't just the announcer. Everyone in the press box thought it was Jinks, your number 6, that got the nod.
Keady was 5 wasn't he? Not doubting your viewing abilities but to prove it to the other lads is that video online yet?

I am editing it at the moment. I spoke to Nigel on the bus home and he was upset. I dont really see the match looking through the camera

Fair enough so, straight from the horse's mouth. Apologise to him for us when you next speak to him, we genuinely thought it was a six we saw on the scorer's back, not a five. The announcer took his cue from us, too, not his fault! :D
I'll go about putting the record straight now.

Not trying to wind you up but surely he should have gone last season. Not finishing in the top 2 last year was a pretty poor effort, particularly given the squad you had.

I can only see you heading one way now, he seems to be a great manager when things are going well but struggles when the team loses confidence.

He was saved by the fact that 2nd and 3rd qualified for the playoff last year IMO. If it had just been 2nd place into the playoff then I don't think he would be there now.. He just cannot seem to change things when the match is not going our way. For example, last night our last substitution was a right back for a right back. On Friday night with Monaghan a man down, he replaced a striker with a striker. When we can't break a team down we always resort to hoofing the ball up to our strikers who invariably are not going to win much more than 50% of them.

Dundalk have Trevor Vaughan and Robbie Farrell as strikers !!
Hardly a surprise you struggle to get goals in some games.

They are not top strikers even for the first division.
Anto Flood and Philly Hughes v Tricky Trev and Robbie Farrell ?

I think it will only come down to a few points at the end of the season but these 0-0 games will hurt you.

Dundalk's front two should be Robbie Martin and Mulvena. Mulvena looked a class act when we beat ye. And Martin is a far better player than Vaughan or Farrell.

Martin isn't a goalscorer either.

I'm amazed at Trevor Vaughan getting his game though.

I know they performed poorly against the top 2 but I still give Waterford a very good chance. Vinny Sullivan is a very good striker but they may lose him in the summer.

Martin's not a goalscorer but he has much more to his game than those too. And Vaughn can barely run these days.

Trevs on the bench this weather - not really getting his game. Sh1t as they were, Longford were unlucky not to score 3 against us... Very depressing stuff. I think martin was injured the last couple of weeks ??? - I could be wrong on that. but gill seems to be starting mulvenna for every game now, which gives me a bit of hope

Vaughan hasn't started in weeks. Mulvenna and Farrell in the last couple of games - I do agree however that Farrell isn't good enough. Martin is just back from injury but we definitely need a goalscorer in the transfer window.

Trevez can still turn on the magic! One of his goals was a 40 yard chip of the goalkeeper.. :)

Yeah it was great vision, but our keeper was not paying attention and should have dealt with it easily.
Speaking of Chips, I see a lot of the Dundalk lads headed to the casino in town after the game. Well, when you're on a roll........
