saw in the irish indo today that hanney has being demoted along with paul tuite for poor decision making in respective games rovers v cork and bray wanderers v drogheda. the article goes on to say that the tv highlights clearly show that jamie mc kenzie was foluled in the penalty box and that bray defender derek foran clearly handled the ball on the line so both refs have being demoted for 5 games. at last there is something being done about the poor quality of refeering in the eircom league. i wonder now will mckenzie
get the red card cancelled. the article is on page 70 in the sport section. hope we can do it against bray tonight

i would have to welcome this news. we all appreciate how difficult a job this is, but it is no excuse for downright incompetance. those bald guys that referee in the showgrounds are retarded.the drogheda match was ridiculous, the ref gave them free after free for nothing in the second half.probably afraid that if we held or beat them his refereeing would come into questioning.god forbid wee rovers take points of the champions

the job of being an EL referee is thankless, but im sure they get decent wages.. both refs deserved this, especially Tuite, he was only yards away from Hughes when the Bray defender puched the ball off the line....hopefully this kind of thing wont continue, becasue if it does, it just shows up the standard of the LOI and its referees!
