Fill in the blank: Rangers are to the Irish League as ____ are to the eircom League.
BBC NI broadcast highlights of Linfield vs. Rangers last night. Windsor Park packed to the rafters with 15,000 in attendance. I think I'm right in saying that France only attracted 12,000 for a friendly at Windsor Park shortly after winning the World Cup. *sigh* Jackie Fullerton rather desperately claimed that it was difficult to tell the blue-clad supporters of both teams apart, but I don't think he was fooling anyone...
The match itself was very one-sided, Linfield's 'keeper Mannus had a stormer and saved an early penalty. Rangers (who fielded a clutch of unfamiliar subs in the second half) won at a canter, 3-0. It's hard to tell whether Rangers' new kit (they've abandoned the classy, subtle kit they wore last year in favour of a tawdry eighties nostalgia effort) or the late, vicious and totally unnecessary elbow by a Rangers player (Dowie?) shortly before the end made for uglier viewing.
