Anyone got info on what teams are now actually in this?

When does it start?

Is there a prize fund?

Is the league split, and how many times do they play each other?

Is there a website or link with details?

Are there any First Division clubs involved?

All I know is that its the 12 Premier Division Clubs + Salthill Devon, Mervue Utd and Tullamore Town, I think 1 more team still has to be added, so that they will be 2 groups of 8.

It's slated to start in June - I thought a number of the First Div clubs had entered (the Premier teams have to enter), and that it was targetted at two Div's of 10 each.

Really?

In all fairness would they not be better off concentrating on the first team?

I'd imagine it's an attempt to snare some more of the Junior talent around town

Basically try it out see if it's good enough.

Actually was amazed at how progressive a step it was  :ball:

Regarding teams belonging to eL clubs, will the players involved be limited to the A League for the duration of the season? Or will they be able to join the senior squad if good enough?

Hi Lads.

Just wondering, does anyone know, apart from Salthill Devon and Mervue United, who is in the A. Championship ?

Reserve team from each premier club (compulsory)
Limerick 37 reserve team, apparantly (dont think we have one yet) from first division.
Dont know what other clubs will take part, other than the two you mentioned.
I think there are two or three more but theres not much info available on it yet.....

Thanks alot lads.

I forgot Tullamore. We ( I mean Waterford United) will have a team in it next season, when we complete our promotion to the Premier Division.
Roll on next March.

Not to be snide or anything but don't Waterford have more pressing concerns than worrying about next seasons reserve team?

Kerry League were supposed to be entering a team but pulled out, but we are entering a team and the club has already met with FAI a few times etc...

One kerry team representing the county would be betting than a club from one town.

I'm not sure. Do you feel Tralee Dynamoes won't be competitive?

The Kerry League senior team got a good result this year in the League Cup versus Waterford. But a I think individual clubs may need to start to step up to the plate. After all it's the clubs that make up the representative side. Also, maybe Tralee Dynamoes are stealing a march on their rivals?

After Edit:
Freudian slip from yourself aswell kingdomkerry.

Nobody from any other town will support Tralee Dynamos, actually most people from tralee wont either. A team representing the county could be supported by all

Kildare county are newbridge i think they just changed their name to try and get support of the whole county. I have no idea how their attendances are

steno

No Kildare County are nothing to do with Newbridge Town. Newbridge were offered St. Francis spot in the league but it was decided to set up a team that could possibly
attract suppport throughout the county - Kildare County. Kildare County are just tenants to Newbridge in station road.

According to this (http://dundalkfc.com/news/080531_Youths.asp), I assume that Dundalk FC will be entering a team in the A Championship.

TheBoss

The Shield competition is a taster for what is to come when the A Championship kicks-off towards the end of this month.

The A Championship will see 17 clubs compete for a prize-fund of €20,000. The presence of three clubs new to the eircom League of Ireland – Salthill Devon, Mervue United and Tullamore Town – means that for the first time there is the possibility of promotion and relegation from the eircom League of Ireland First Division.

The full A Championship fixture list will be revealed over the coming days.

It is 17, in that case, thats 12 PL + 3(Tullamore, Salthill, Mervue) + Dundalk = 16

Who is the other one ?
