Don't know if i should have posted this in the youtube thread but any way how do people fancy this deciding drawn games. Not as exciting in my opinion

That's a nice find.

As an experiment because the outfield players failed so badly, then it wont catch on. The competition looks like an age-restricted seven-a-side tournament going by the amount of players celebrating. Perhaps even invitational.

Bottom line the penalty shoot-out is about finding a winner and moving to the next stage. If any tension, excitement and personal humiliation comes with that, all well and good.

Interesting idea alrite, it might make the extra time period of a match a bit more exciting because managers would bring on their more attacking players for that type of shootout. As opposed to playing more defensively in extra time, hoping to get to the penalty shootout.

Still id prefer the penalities.

This idea has been around for a while - I remember Robbie Keane involved in such a "shoot-out" while he was with Inter Milan.

At that time, I think there was a time limit of 7 seconds in which the goal had to be scored. I remember Robbie being fouled by the keeper in his first attempt, and getting another go, which he missed.

I wasn't a fan of the idea at the time, I remember.

It's an interesting idea, though I prefer penalties, partly because I don't like change and partly because I'd much prefer to take a penalty than run a one-on-one!

I read 'Once in a Lifetime' the sotry of the New York Cosmos recently. Good book. Anyway, for a couple of season they did that shootout thing to decide drawn games. One of the Brazilians (Jairzinho maybe) had a great technique. He used to chip the ball up and knock the ball forward off the ground at a controlled height. If the keeper comes out it's really easy to lob him, if he doesn't you get in to 8 or 10 yards and lash it home low!
