Honoary President of RSC Anderlecht M. Constant Vanden Stock passed away over the weekend. Rest In Peace.

French language obit. from club (not on English version)

Anderlecht changed the name of there ground to honour their former player and 25 year serving chairman from Parc Verse.
http://www.rsca.be/historydates.php?menu=4&submenu=22
"1983 : Première phase de rénovation du stade Emile Versé, rebaptisé Stade Constant Vanden Stock."
A concern is that English language journalists up to the present day, called the stadium Parc Astrid after the greater public park around the sportsground. It's not the only ground in Europe to be named something other than the Official title, especially when the ground is named after a person. There is a famous stadium in Milano with a similiar effect.
What other stadiums are named after people? and why the culture not to repeat the name but give the stadium a more inanimate title? (is it like the idea, not creating a statue of someone who is living).

In fairness, this thread could go on forever without leaving Western Europe...
They like this kind of thing in the GAA too - a stadium named after someone, comprising two stands and two terraces named after four other people.

The Kasam Stadium in Oxford is another example of a Chairman's ego's running riot although he built it so he can really call it what he wants!!!

He did, put public pressure made the name be taken off when he became Governor of California and ordered the execution of Stan Williams. It was Sturm Graz's stadium, called the UPC-Arena now.
Huddersfields ground still called The Alfred McAlpine Stadium?
