Just had a quick read of this (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2008/04/15/srdrug115.xml), linked from a cycling forum I frequent. A study of the results of Drug tests taken over a five year period in Britain shows that Cycling isn't that bad after all, coming 9th, Athletics could be much worse, at 7th, and the combined Rugby codes managing to be ten times worse than cycling. The interesting thing to note is that, owing to the scandals, there has generally tended to be more stringent testing of track and field athletes and cyclists, but less so among footballers or rugby players. Does anyone know who runs the testing in Ireland, and is there any in the eL, or various different team sports?
By the way, to lovers of quality thread titles - Sorry. I really could not turn up the opportunity of a headline like that.
