As Coleraine have qualified for the Irish Cup final, does that mean they are in next years Setanta Cup. Who won this years CIS Cup final guys?

Linfield!

Linfield, Glentoran, Cliftonville and Coleraine.

I don't think that is right. I think that you have to win the CIS and you have to Win the Irish Cup to qualify. Runners up don't. I think people are getting confused with Europe.

As far as I know and I'm not totally certain, but I think I'm right, if Coleraine don't beat Linfield, then the Setanta cup place goes to the next team down in hte league. Same goes with the CIS. So if Linfield win the cup, that would mean that 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place gets the nod.

But I could be wrong.

From our side, that's correct. Assume the same criteria are used up north, but you never know...

No its not. We qualified for Setanta as Cup runners up.

Only 'cos you screwed Sligo over in the standard Dublin conspiracy. ;)

I know we didn't qualify as League Cup runners-up anyways. Is it only the FAI Cup runners up get the spot then?

Think so. Same rules apply to English cups and UEFA cup spots

It is the same. Coleraine qualify.

Stevey didnt Dungannon qualify for this years Setanta Competition based on reaching the final last year and getting beat by yourselves. Think it was Portadown who finished 4th last year and missed out.

Cork and Coleraine for the same group next year. That'll be some trek!

Morrissey

I can confirm Coleraine will qualify. This nearly seems to be unconditional. ;)

As for the Trek. Bring it on.

Knowing full well that the draw has been fudged in previous years, there's no way they'll be able to manipulate the draw again without questions beign asked. For that reason, I like/believe we'll draw Derry, and Cork, providing they both qualify of course.

I guess it depends who wins each league as they enter the competition as seeded.

I'd love it... I'd really love it if we drew Coleraine.

City v Coleraine would draw some crowd - home and away.....!

Though having watched Dungannon's feeble effort tonight, I have to say that I do fear for the future of the Setanta.

Outside of Linfield, no IL club seems capable of competing consistently against the EL clubs in it.

Can't really see the point in the competition to be honest, i suppose it has served its purpose in showing that Linfield and Glentoran can bring sizeable supports south without much bother [hope that doesn't bite me on the arse] and that a 16 team AIL with 4 IL clubs might be possible

Their has only been 2 stand out clubs in this tournement and that was the 2 winners although Cork could claim to also be their or their abouts.

Which says a lot really about how bad this tournement is. Although I enjoy my trips away and I will be traveling to dublin tonight.

You can take that league with a pinch of salt though. It would be different if everyone where playing the same teams.

I am sure Linfield would have a better point to game ratio if we had Dungannon in our gruop every season to.

You think Dungannon make a mockery of the Setanta?! Wait 'til you see us.*

There's always some sort of excuse in Linfield's favour isn't there, Steve - yet none accepted in anyone else's favour....

God forbid anything might dare suggest that Linfield aren't the supreme champions of Irish football of all time, ever.....

You obviously have a blinding problem with me, if you don't like what I post, ignore me.

I was demonstrating how a league should be taken with a pinch of salt.

If Man Utd had Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in their group and Arsenal had, Brentford, Derry City & Linfield in their group. Who do you think would have the most points per game?

Would the league table be a fair outlook on how things are?

Didn't think so, so roll on and take your personal problem with me with ya.

Hmmm strange that you never mentioned the tables pointlessness until it was pointed out that Drogheda actually had a better record than Linfield.

Indeed.

And the comparison with Barcelona etc and Brentford etc is ridiculous. We're talking about one Dungannon here - not 3 Dungannon's in one group.

Anyway as Linfield fans love to remind everyone, they almost always beat the Glens and City have yet to beat them - so sounds to me like Linfield have the easiest group usually.

Drogheda have a better record than Linfield in every way, they have won it twice to our one.

Linfield, Glentoran, Cliftonville and Coleraine I imagine... unless they switch Coleraine for Lisburn Distillery, but I doubt that'll happen.
