or watever his name is... did anyone else see his piece in the echo today about the match? i never read so much **** in my life...
between him and spillage where do the echo get them?
Leave him off. I read it too. Biased to say the least. I have a challenge for 'Mister' Hurley the next time we play City at Colmans Park.

Not a good article IMO. Spillane for once was spot on though.
Hurley seems to be very biased toward Cork City where as Ken O'Connor's article focused on both teams.
Hurley picked out all the offensive yet clever chants which City had and when it came to Ramblers he reduced us to a "dodgy keeper" and "Who are ya?". There were much better chants reseerved Mick Devine which Hurley ignored like "Whose the sumo in the goal?" and my personal favourite "We'd rather have Dave the Save than Devine!!".
Like luka i'd challenge him over his article, next time I saw him.

Typical of our "new breed".
I thought he was right about his criticism of the pa fella. Alan Kearney:D
As for the cobh chanting I didn't even notice any;)
Next time you decide to quote me on the City Forum MR alan make sure you quote me correctly. I don't like being misquoted. Now crawl away back into whatever hole you came out a few days ago because quite frankly old chap you're beginning to annoy me. You sure your not Seablue in disguise.

ah its stupidly funny
on a side note regarding the "new breed" i had to laugh at the city 'ultras' that arrived in cobh before the game setting off french bangers and running around with there arms out and hoods up...they really thought they were on the football factory... a real shame cause all they were doing was giving city a bad name..muppets

i read hurleys piece last night what a load of rubbish he is the roddy collins of journalists , thinks he knows it all thinks hes funny and believes he is good at his job. when he fact he writes poorly and disjointed. are the echo really that stuck as to have him write for them , he seems to pop up with gaa reports as well, the echo is really sliding when they use this crap

I wanted to email the echo but couldnt get a email address for this hurley lad, or spillane. I dont know how in the name of god the echo can justify such contrasting reports of the same game within 2 pages of each. As somebody posted on the city forum it was like a schoolboy essay, with this happened then this happened then they said this then they said that. With terrbile humour too. And a bias not unknown to the echo but certainly alot more bias spillane ever shown, even the shed end fella gave a completely honest report.

Spillane's piece was good as was Ken O'Connor's but what Denis Hurley wrote was just crap, it was so different to the other articles it just wasn't funny.
If you have a problem with Denis Hurley then the person to contct would be John McHale who is the Sports Editor at the Evening Echo. McHale gives the final say on all articles so he must have approved Hurley's pile of crap.
I found his e-mail on their website: john.mchale@eecho.ie. It might even be worth a shot to try denis.hurley@eecho.ie seeing as all other contacts listed at the echo involve the persons name.

Sorry, I've only come across this thread now, my apologies. Yes I am a City fan, but I didn't set out to be biased in the piece. You will see I said the chanting about Wanky Ramblers and the Stephen Henderson one. The bit about the roof of the stand was a joke, I reported what the PA said accurately. I was sitting in the middle of the stand and so couldn't hear most of the Ramblers chanting. My email address is denishurley@eecho.ie if anybody wishes to contact me. Apologies for upsetting any Ramblers fans.

fair dues for comin on but what you wrote was biased and structureless a pity when ok game was poor but everything else went off without incident it was a credit to 2 sets of supporters. yet you chose to have a dig instead of giving credit

fair dues for coming on and giving your email address but that article was a disgrace, completely biased and negative. very poor sports journalism. maybe you should have walked around the ground to take in the crowd, i did at half time and im not a journalist at all.

That's a fair cop depor, something to learn for next time (if I'm given another chance!). I didn't set out to write the article with bias but re-reading it I accept it looks that way
If you are who you say your are then what about the poor ole PA announcer? If I remember correctly the word 'Mister' was used not more than twice when calling ou the teams.

I was taking notes at the time and not paying attention to the first few names, so that may be right, thought he did it for all of them

I can confirm that it was used for Davin O'Neill and Michael Mulconry.

His next report he'll obviously learn frm his mistakes and it will be alot better. So lads we've said our piece hes answered back, now lets leave this thread be.

to be fair what he said about the pa was facts.. Everything else was tripe!! He only said that you said mr and referred to callaghan as georgie.
Read the article again before stating something you think you read, or may have read but didn't quite catch Bella. I'm not ****ed about the article at all, but have every right to if I wanted to because what was written wasn't fact. Read it again.

"The Pa Anouncer is obviously under the mistaken assumptin that the Cobh players are amatuers as he prefaced each of their names with Mr, while merely announcing the City Profesionals by their names. "
"four minutes later, Liam Kearney was withdrawn by Alan Matthews but the announcer said that it was Alan Kearney who had gone off, which must have come to a surprise to the Ramblers player, himself introduced as a sub only five minutes before"
I have read it and am still under the assumption he said nothing wrong, it has been said here that you did not call every rams player by Mr, only 2 or 3, dont know why you wouold do 2 or 3 and not all, whats next "Sir Stpehen Henderson"!!!. I dont know as i told you after the game there was a problem with the speakers up our end as Mojo stated earlier we couldnt hear a thing.
Cobh players are amatuers as he prefaced each of their names with Mr
Get off your little horse for a minute and read the quote above. 'Each' would suggest that I prefaced 'EACH' OR 'all' of the Ramblers' pleyers names with the word 'Mister'.
Two players....only TWO were called Mister. Not 'EACH'. Not 'ALL'. Just two. I hope that points one inaccuracy of that particular paragraph and that you now understand what it is I'm reffering to.

.he was referring to the simple fact that ramblers players were referred to as Mr ...., fair enough it sounded like all of them were, but to be fair none of them should have been
also "each" could suggest you prefaced more than more than, as in two ramblers players.
btw: Im quite happy to be "on my little horse"

No. He was indeed referring to 'Each of the Ramblers' players. How did it sound like all of them when it was only two of them?
Correct: None of them should have been, but when your in the middle of callin out the team and someone walks straight in on top of you it tends to be rather off-putting. A simple mistake, however, the journalism inaccuracy wasn't a simple mistake. Door will be locked i future.

I read from the lists I'm given. Stop trying to be a clever arse and trying to find holes in whet I'm saying. Davin and Mucky's names weren't next to each other. I never said they were. You started out here by saying ''to be fair what he said about the pa was facts..'' so stick to what you were saying and stop trying to make a ***** out of people. Grow up FFS.
