Kirby keen on Flancare fortress

Longford Town midfielder Alan Kirby reckons that his side need to make visiting teams fear the trip to Flancare Park if they are to really take on and beat the best of the rest in the Premier Division.

The midlands side is still on a high after their qualification for the League Cup final last week and Kirby hopes that his side can take that form and bring it into their league campaign.

“Getting to the final is great, but the league is our bread and butter and we have to consistently do our stuff there.”

Unfortunately, the Longford faithful have only seen their side win one of their five home league games, and Kirby knows that this has to improve.

“It’s tough going to places like Dalymount and Tolka Park and we have to create that same atmosphere at Flancare. We haven’t done that yet.

“Teams are coming down to us and seeing the good facilities and the excellent pitch and they are enjoying playing against us. We have to stop that happening and make it harder for them.”

he's dead right, but unfortunally I really don't think last Saturday night will scare the ****e outta anyone, perhaps Derry again on Tuesday... Methinks this is Derrys best chance, we need more daylight between UCD and ourselves... that tight pitch in Fannycare doesn't help...
