.......................................

The eagerly anticipated first league derby between Cork City and Cobh Ramblers in over a decade takes place at St. Colman’s Park in Cobh tomorrow night. Both sides go into the game still seeking their first win of the season despite some impressive performances, and with local pride also at stake it is sure to be a keenly contested game in front of a sell-out crowd.
City boss Alan Mathews told CorkCityFC.ie that he is looking forward to the tie: “We’re really looking forward to the game. It promises to be a terrific occasion in front of a packed St. Colman’s Park. There will be a big support travelling down from Cork to support the Rebel Army, and a local derby between City and Cobh will be one of the high points of the season.”
Liam Kearney has recovered from a wrist injury, so Billy Woods (ankle) is likely to be the only absentee through injury. Ramblers had a hugely impressive season in 2007, and Mathews knows the First Division champions will be a stern test for his side: “Cobh had a fantastic season last year. Stephen Henderson has done a great job down there in winning promotion last season, and they have some fine players, so it promises to be a game to look forward to.”
Suspensions: None
Injury News: Billy Woods (ankle).

cant wait hopefully this will live up to the hype, im personally expecting 9 yellows, and one red card, and a vicious tackle that a city player will get away with,

Dave McKeown or Paul Tuite should have been referee.

ramsfan
30/03/2008, 5:28 PM
eddie foley should not be doing the line for rams games, he is the most biased pr^ck i have seen officiate at rams games ever
buttimer i think was a little intimidated by 2 cork teams and a cork crowd he was afraid to upset his neighbours and friends rams wouldnt have got a penalty off him if we had continued playing til now

I don't see why.
Dub derbys always officiated by dubs.

Eddie Foley's only problem is he doesn't understand the offside rule.

I have 2 20x 10 flags ordered so they should be noticed.

I was at the match and absolutely no flags seemed to be noticable from Ramblers anyway. Mind you, your fans stood infront of them :p

Good to hear there was a large crowd.

How many Ramblers fans do ye realistically think will travel to the cross later in the season?

bellavistaman
31/03/2008, 11:09 PM
well sell out what we receive i reckon

rambler14
31/03/2008, 11:09 PM
Everyone who was at the match Saturday will travel. I was told by the event controller in Turners Cross last week that we'll be allocated 2,000 tickets for the whole Derrynane Road Stand.

MojoPin
31/03/2008, 11:10 PM
thats stand only holds 1100 though?

rambler14
31/03/2008, 11:15 PM
You really think we'll sell 2,000 tickets. Cork are just gonna do that to cover themselves.

MojoPin
31/03/2008, 11:19 PM
true but hopefully we can push our home games up near that ark over the next few games

pete
31/03/2008, 11:37 PM
IMO there is little or no chance to take your entire home support to the cross. I asked for realistic number, it is not a competition. I would have said 1000 would be excellent as would be largest away support at the cross in my memory (Derry numbers limited for 2005 title decider). If ye brought 1000 we would have maybe 4000.

MojoPin
01/04/2008, 12:23 AM
i was saying crowds we have to try and get our home crowds up to 2000 which would be a huge achievement by the club considering theres only 12000-14000 in cobh

drinkfeckarse
01/04/2008, 7:44 AM
I don't think it's unrealistic to think we can take 1,000 to the Cross. If it's promoted and hyped correctly it is achievable IMO. That would more or less fill the Derrynane which would be fantastic.

totally agree we should get 1000 to cross imo, but lets forget about that til june and worry about sligo, rovers, bohs, pats:D
