It is an ''all-ticket match'' but we have'nt a hope in hell of selling 5,000 tickets. 3,000 would be the most we could expect.

So I shouldn't worry about having a ticket then ?

It'd help you avoid the que, but i can't see them turning people away.
the rovers tickets will be limited surely if he wants to go in with the away supporters? Im guessing that roves will be able to sell out the location for them which is what 400 or something?

Well then that's something he has to discuss with his club. On the basis of what he asked(buying tickets from us) it won't be a sell out!!

Corofinm utd have been given 2,000 tickets to sell for this game and rovers have 400 so assuming they both sell all their tickets add that to the 2000-2500 that is expected the game will be close to a sell out
so if any one wants to know if tickets will be sold on the gate (esp rovers fans) ring galway utd office on 091 767336

When giving my estimation for Saturday i took that into account. Corofin has a population of half the amount of tickets they were given. I think they would be doing well to sell 200-300 in fairness, after all GUFC is'nt a new thing, anyone interested in going would go anyway. Only the staunch Corofin club members who love there club will be entised by the scheme, i can't imagine too many parents going because there kids play for the named club.
For any club to sell a couple of hundred tickets would be a big achivement and the scheme will have an impact on the attendences for the year, but to think we'll sell 5,000 tickets for any team bar Premiership opposition taking into account last season, this season and our position thus far is far fetched.
At any rate i'd expect to see 2,500-3,000 up there

Jamjar,
The following is a direct answer to your question :
If the office is open at tonights game, you will be able to buy a ticket. As trainee says, if you call today at (091) 767336, I'm sure that the club staff will be able to help you.
Alternatively, you can buy your ticket in Zhivago Records, Shop Street, which should be open up to 7.00pm tonight.
I would advise all United fans to buy a ticket in advance, to minimise inconvenience to both yourself and fellow supporters. The club office will also be open on Saturday.

I spoke to one of the lads from Corofin this morning and tickets were not selling that well he told me in his words . Now what that means for numbers I am not too sure .

There is virtually no cost to United from this initiative, so there is no potential loss.
Even only 100 tickets sold = E1,000 for GUFC. Some people who buy tickets to support the fundraiser may not attend the game (still E10 for each ticket to GUFC), and the promotion of the match in the general Tuam/ Corofin/Claregalway area may prompt some people to attend the game without purchasing fundraiser tickets.

I was meant to go to Terryland tonight, but due to unforseen circumstances I can't make it. The reason I asked about tickets is because the Rovers website says cash will be taken at the stiles. I know zhivagos are selling tickets, but I'm in Gort and won't get a chance to get into Galway before the w/end. I'll take my chances without a ticket and if the worst comes to the worst I'll infiltrate the Galway supporters. Although the last time I did that (I think it was 2000) I looked a bit obvious when I was the only one sitting down when Galway scored !!

Thanks, I've been here for 10 years so maybe I'll applaud politely this time if ye score, but hopefully it won't come to that.

If you are joining us on saturday any chance of you bringing some samba drums and a few of the local women to spice up the crowd ? :D

I presume by 'local women' you mean the Brazilians and not the lassies from the Gort camogie club.

Jamjar,
If you are in Terryland between 6.00pm-6.45pm you will be able to purchase a ticket for the Shamrock Rovers section at the gate. Anyone with Rovers colours will be allowed entry to the away section.

Ticket Update
Tickets will be on sale at the gate for Galway United's eagerly anticipated clash with Shamrock Rovers, however to avoid disruption supporters are urged to purchase early as a huge crowd is expected at the Dyke Road venue.
Tickets are on sale from Zhivago Records, Shop Street and from the Galway United Office at Terryland Park. Season Ticket's are also on sale at both outlets. Kick Off is at the earlier time of 7.00pm on Saturday.

Looks like there was no need for the all ticket decision again as sales are much slower than expected. We really have to stop this nonsense as it seems to be turning fans away more than anything else when saying its all tickets. A lot of people havent the time to get into the city to get the tickets and end up not bothering going in the end.

the United website urged people to arrive early. Why then did people have to stand in the rain until 06:20??

If you keep playing as poorly as you did tonight, I don't see that many paying €25:eek: in to watch it every week.
