Keely wary of Cup minnows

Kildare County manager Dermot Keely has "welcomed" his side’s FAI Cup draw against non-league Dublin side Crumlin United as a "no-win situation" for the Throughbreds.

Kildare are just two points off the lead of the First Division and gunning for promotion to the top flight in just their second year in existence.

They will be expected to make it through to the second round at the expense of their non-league opponents when they meet at Station Road on the weekend of July 25/27.

But Keely will be approaching the tie with extreme caution, and laments that it is a catch-22 situation for his band of Thorughbreds.

"This is a no-win situation for us," he said. "People will expect us to beat them but football is not like that. This is probably one of the biggest games in their history and there’s no doubt that they’ll be up for it.

"If we let our concentration or level of play slip then I’m sure they’ll take advantage of it."
