Yay! Poor Roddy can ride off into the sunset, ready to 'rescue' some other poor unfortunate club. See ya Roddy! Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out! :D

guys this is where you sign for the supporters trust. I know there was reservations in the past about the trust but this is only six euros a wk and for that you are a member of the club and get invited to vote at potential supporters trust meetings and agms of the club.. ronnie b can vouch for that... he only joined the other day...

imo this is definitely worth joining it was thanks to the trust that this move didnt happen.. you may be surprised...

Joining the trust may all be well and good, but in reality, when certain people working for the club (and hsve since resigned) hadnt heard anything about the takeover, it says a lot about the democracy at the club, and what it all boils down to, there are some, if not a lot of incompetent fools looking out for their own best interest and not for the best interest of the club involved in the club, and its them that needs to question themeselves.

Would agree with some of your sentiments but I'd say by joining the trust you get the chance to nominate people you want to see involved.

I understand where you are coming from Cabs88. However I feel that there is some confusion regarding the role of the trust.

A member of the trust is by default a member of the club. The trust is independent entity and the only Trustee of the trust who is a member of the executive is the Treasurer of the club. But as an independent entity the Trust would have no say in club affairs whatsoever. Where a trust members opinion is really invaluable is as a member of the club.

In this such instance, as a member of the club, if a potential offer was presented by the clubs executive to the clubs membership for approval, your vote and that of every member of the club would be required to accept or reject such offers.

In addition to this, you are also entitled to admittance to the AGM and any potential EGM the club may hold, giving you a say in the running of your club.

Finally, membership of the trust is the best way of securing the future of Longford Town F.C in terms of financial assistance and in terms of you having a say in the future of your club.

Regards,
Brendan

That should be found out and if it is not true he should be made withdraw that comment.

McMullen has confirmed that 25k was given Was very genuine about it. He's also eyeing up Rotherham and Livingston.

I may be wrong but didnt McMullen Properties sponsor the Longford Town page on eleven-a-side.com?

Interesting, was it given after the takeover broke down or before it I wonder? Would have thought the club would publicise that kind of sponsorship like they did with Munnellys.

Id have gone for the takeover minus Roddy, if the investors were going to be that generous!

After. The takeover would have seen a €2m injection into the club.

Strange. If they were so keen, how come they weren't prepared to put anything in writing? It's easy to say what you would have done after the event in my opinion. Doesn't matter now anyhow I suppose.

Money was never the stumbling block. Roddy was. And that's admitted by both sides.

fair play to the mcmullen brothers for their kind gesture.. what sort of income is this and would be that be classifed as part of the 65% wages rule?

Rocky77
19/03/2008, 8:11 PM
Don't know but I'd say it won't matter as it's unlikely to be invested in the team, rather it could be used to help service the debts

They haven't paid it yet apparently, but they have promised it. All income is part of your turnover of which 65 % can be spent on wages. I doubt it'll be added onto the playing budget anyhow so it doesn't matter except it means we'd be further under the 65% threshold.
Edit -Just noticed the website piece there now..

Spotted in the UK Sun today, Roddy's hovering over Rotherham. He's referred to an ex Carlisle manager. Poor guys.

I thought he had a special calling towards Gretna  . Did they tell him to do one as well?. The last thing clubs in administration need is Roddy Collins.
