Sligo should just claim that they were the team in red and white and that they won.

Dundalk finished with 9 men. Bennion sent off early and with all subs made Ben Whelahan had to go off injured. Tht was with 8 mins to go.

I would suspect Dermot Keely would have to be disappointed. Looking at Shels acquisitions in Delaney, retaining flood and getting in Keddy among others they will be up there. Can't remember off hand the other signings but some fine names in there. It would be remiss of me not to mention a LoI legend Mark Rutherford.

Rutherford is a name I could never forget.I remember Rutherford playing since first I remember seeing LoI football such is the lenght of time the guy is about.

Gareth, i think your website is dead.

Hi Anto,

Yes, it is not responding. This problem will not happen again after we get it back online. We got a far greater volume than we expected.

McDonnell under serious pressure now.

Jesus, Sheridan thats a bit premature...

Anyway, as a confirmed McDonnell doubter, I have to say he made some decent changes tonight and we were value for the win. Poor game overall though

The pinpoint passes to the misplaced passes, playing it down the line when the other player wants it over the top, watching one of our players beat a man only to cut back inside and lose the ball, watching our goalkeeper make a fantasic save but to later flap at a handy cross, watching us hit the bar and then watching them hit the bar, watching them play with every man behind the ball and then us get caught a player short when they brake, yes Ladies and Gents it's back. First division or Premier, live football is back and it f*cking great.

Who's up next week?

Yes! Sparky should get the Irish equivalent of a knighthood for his service to the game. As a young fella back in the 90's i remember looking up to him like he was a gift from God. The excitement I felt to have the opportunity to congratulate him on win or great performance.

Derry never lost their keeper.

Also, when will clubs learn how to design jerseys? Showing the league up as amateurs again. It's ridiculous.

Hint from the way we work things - don't colour your sleeves differently. It's asking for trouble. One colour, and retain an old away jersey as a third choice kit. Duh-simple.

He flicked on in injury time for that header that ended up on the roof of the net. I enjoyed the match, my first ever LoI match. I've got the whole thing recorded on my computer if anyone wants highlights.

The fact that their game went ahead shows the sham of a decision to call off our game. Apparently it was on the basis of the rain that was going to fall. We'd be at HT right now and not a sight of any rain.

Are you sure that's true - if so what patethic excuse for a human made that call?

Our old friend Padraig Sutton. I walked the pitch and it certainly wasn't waterlogged, it was even firm over the far side. It passed a pitch inspection at 2:30 this afternoon.

Expected more of Fingal, to be honest, especially given the two teams' performances against us in pre-season.

On that point Wexford Youths have two Anto Russells and no Conor Sinnott.
