Grant wins monthly gong
The eircom/Soccer Writers Association of Ireland Player of the Month Award for June has gone to Shamrock Rovers Tony Grant.
It was always likely that a Rovers player would win the award as while the other league clubs were enjoying the mid-season break, the Dublin club was bust playing in the Inter-Toto Cup. Liam Buckley’s side stylish victory over Odra of Poland attracted the attention of the award’s judges and Grant’s performances in those two European games along with his goal against St. Patrick’s in the Dublin derby earned him the award.
