According to RTE radio there's a clash of colours at Richmond Park and there is doubts over the game. Sligo brought a fully white kit and Pats kit has white sleeves but neither side will back down.

What a crap start to the season.

Sligo and Pats not sanctioned to go ahead as yet due to the sleeves on the jerseys of the two clubs are the same colour

I'd feckin dock points off both sides if this does not go ahead. The league really can't afford this s**te.

Bit of a joke...

Could Pats not just go Patselona for the night?

Mr A
07/03/2008, 6:24 PM
Could Sligo not bring a kit that wasn't red or white?

And if anyone hadn't guessed - the referee is a certain Mr Buttimer

rovers dont have a home kit yet:p

it will be launched next week, thats why they have been playing in the white kit for pre-season.

Mr A
07/03/2008, 6:27 PM
I wouldn't blame the ref. The rules state that both teams can't have the same colour of sleeves and the clubs know that.

what radio station are the updates on?,can you listen online?

Mr A

Cant understand why white sleeves could prove such a problem for the ref! Considering its the first game of the season this could have been foreseen a long time ago instead of turning the fixture into a joke!

Sleeves clashing are a problem in the event of a handball in a crowded penalty area or something like that.

No sign of a kick off, teams on the pitch.

Over 15 mins late

Both sets of players with tracksuit tops on

Damien Richerdson blaming Sligo Rovers if anyone, they are meant to ring the home team apparantly

Both teams 'sticking to their guns'

sticking to their guns a euphemism for "being stubborn ****ers"

I can't remember the exact rule here, but whoever is on the wrong side of it should ship one mighty fine for this one.

07/03/2008, 7:15 PM
according to keith o dwyer, pats were asked to change their kit all there officials complained and there players went into the dressing room, came out 10 mins later in the same kit,now rovers will use st pats other kit:rolleyes:

the dubliners put up a fuss and buttimer overrules his original decision:rolleyes:

Mr A
07/03/2008, 7:17 PM
The rule seems to be that the away team must bring their 2 strips. If both clash then the home team must change. As Sligo didn't bring 2 strips they're in the wrong, as Pat's will not change so are they. What a pathetic farce.

But both of sligo's kits clash with pats so how can sligo be in the wrong?

Mr A
07/03/2008, 7:21 PM
Because the rules say they have to bring 2 kits and they didn't.

its not as if sligo didnt have enough time to get 2 kits sorted. the fixtures are out ages!

this kind of thing doesnt even happen in the LSL. im confused now as to which is the amateur setup

god its half-time in other games,i'll give it 15mins and if nothing has happened it has gotta be called off.

Bohs played 3 or 4 games at the start of the last double winning season in 2002/03 without a sponsor on their home or away jerseys for the same reason - so not really a valid excuse lads

Have got the white jersey we used that season - and it's got no sponsor on it. Looks class btw

yeah we should have brought a second kit and the sponsor thing isnt a valid excuse, but as neville neville said the kits dont really clash.
The ref was been very fussy.

for people to start calling for fines and point deductions, give me abreak

In fairness, that was from a Harps fan, and whatever about the state of the table now, it's undestandable that they'd want to see teams getting points deducted. ;)

Mr A
07/03/2008, 9:44 PM
Lads, a premier game was delayed for over half an hour because the team's kits clashed, it doesn't matter if is wasn't by much, the rules are the rules. Are you seriously trying to tell me that someone should not be punished for this? If Harps were involved I'd be demanding to know exactly why we had not complied with the rules when they are perfectly clear. This is a kick in the teeth for everyone trying to promote the league, and an example has to be made to prevent it happening again.

Given all the positive hype in the buildup to the new season this farce will be highlighhted in the papers tommorrow rather than tonights games.

In my innocence when it was announced at Turners X that the Pats game started at 8.15 i thought it was due to crowd congestion!

Surely in this day and age the ref can view all relevant kits in emails the day before games and decide what does & doesn't clash.

Anto McC
07/03/2008, 10:33 PM
I don't think ref's are on the internet yet, i mean the ref we had tonight is from an age where it's still ok to elbow a player in the face and not be punished so i'd be suprised if they have email addresses.

BTW the kits did clash. Our home kit has been the same for ****ing ever. Red body, white sleeves and white shorts. Scandalous that Sligo can have an awy kit so close to their home kit

Sligo ended up wearing our wawy kit of two years ago (with the pp logo on it). We wore it once in ore season
