Found this on ireland.com:

Donegal again gets large share (http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/sport/2001/0608/spo4.htm)
By Ian O'Riordan

Anyone know if our clubs got anything?

Jeez I know Donegal is a marginalised county but to get 1/3 of what the whole of Dublin (probably 10+ times greater population) is strange. Course all makes sense when the Minister is from donegal. Kildare (home of Finance Minister) gets an overly large share too.

There is more money available in grants for capital projects than ever before now which means its very important for clubs (take not CCFC) to put forward development projects or they won't get any money! The grander the plans the more money you get.

My reply to Gaz's "State of the national game" on the National Team section was really meant for this one (don't ask what happened!) but your comments about the sports grants for this year proves my point, that succesive governments keep throwing money, millions,at the likes of the GAA year in,year out while Irish soccer gets feck all,it's a wonder the game here has survived at all.And yet, who's getting free tickets, free drink and free food at all the big Internationals???

I had a look at the list of recipients on the Dept. of Sport website and couldn't find anything on Athlone. We were supposed to be getting substantial funding for our new stadium. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it given to the FAI first or something??
