Couple of things:
1. We are looking for a title for the new Supporters' Club fanzine. We are looking for suggestions. Any ideas?
2. We have a number of people who have already agreed to help out with it, but we are looking for as many contributors as possible. So if you have anything you think is worthwhile drop me a mail or a pm.

Suggestion for a title:
"The Curse of St Munchin"
He is the patron saint of the city and he put a curse on Limerick people that none would be successful in their home town.

I think you should let lims fan come up with the name. 'Deformed Bum Boys' has a nice sound to it.
How about "Smalltime Blues" ??:p

There was an illfated Limerick fanzine back in the early 90's (4 issues produced) called Limerick You're a Lady.
Nobody ever admitted to editing it but I probably have back issues somewhere in my attic. :D

But lets not forget http://www.HelptheHomeless or better still
www.geocities.com/HelptheHomeless.
See what I mean does not look so nice now does it. C'mon you can do better than that once you choose the name we are stuck with it, dont forget its an internet address here not poetry.

I just read the original post again. I presumed it was a fanzine title. Obviously a website address needs to have some reference to the teams name. Deise, was it a website or a fanzine name you were looking for?
If it is a fanzine title then I think we can go with something a bit off the wall and definitely something witty. It might even pay to get people a bit annoyed over it. Might giz things up a bit. That said, I think there is a line that shouldn't be crossed e.g. any reference to stab city or that nonsense. :ball:

i thought we were calling it "commitment to excrement" as a tonge in cheek view of our long departed chairman ;) i like lfc in exiles ones too very catchy. The curse of st munchin is too "ye olde irishie" and is too parish like. we're a big club and we need to shout it out. Remember we did play Real madrid not Balla B in division 4a. But ill agree with the concencious

All the members of the board have talked aout this now and we think that LFC in Exile's title is very good.
"Committment to Excrement" was only a joke and wasn't really taken to be serious by anyone. From what SLK has told me this was always his understanding of it.
Personally I think that it only has a negative connotation. That would be grand if it was only about the committee, but we have a team and management team to think about as well who deserve none of the crap that is being (deservedly) slung at the committee.
As for Limerick F.C. being a big club - complete rubbish.
We couldn't pay our players' wages.
We have no home ground.
We have no structures in place in regards the committee and structure of the club.
We have a very small squad.
Where we play we have no stand or seats.
We have no club merchandise.
We have very little income from sponsorship.
We have one of the smallest fanbases in the country.
We have a committee that is split down the middle, who operate a closed-door policy, with no AGMs and no membership. In fact in legal terms they don't even exist.
So how are we a big club?

You are right LFC are no longer a big club. But it once was and in terms of el football it could be again. Limerick is a big city and one only has to do the sums to realise the potential.
Outside of Dublin there are only a hand full of league titles we have two of them.
But most importantly in my opinion no team ever came to Limerick expecting to win in any competition. We may not be a big club on current measuement but we have a big name. Which was hard earned over the past 50 years.
What club in the present el has not dallied with extinction, Shelbourne and Rovers no one has been exempt. Sligo Rovers were saved by a door to Door collection about 15 years ago and the whole town rallied around some others did not make it.
We have big problems but as has been said there are no debts and a clean slate is available for any one to come in.
Limerick can be a big club again but not with a small time committee

On further reflection I think
The Popular side
would be a great name for a Limerick fanzine. I know most of you are too young to remember the Markets Field but it was/is our spiritual home and there is a good play on the title too.
The Popular side was the sid eopposite the stand (the cheap side) where all the wags went
