It might be best to only post one clip each without an explanation.

I've never been able to find it online, but it's from Three Colours : White, and involved the Polish guy with a gun in a subway. It is actually 2 scenes, separated by about 45 minutes, both dealing with the same incident.

Mike Leigh's 1993 "Naked", David Thewlis plays what appears to be a well read cynical homeless person, until he comes out with some FACTS.

True Romance - Dennis Hopper & Christopher Walken scene

I defy anyone to watch this, think about how this scene was improvised by the two actors on the spot and not call it the greatest scene of all time

hmm i feared this was from the 'too good to be true' department but wiki has the scene as being meticulously scripted:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Romance

(see Sicilian Scene at the bottom) Tarantino called it one of his proudest moments in film, i guess he heard that speech from a black friend.

still! a fantastic scene, no doubt.

Granted it's only an IMDB rumour that it wasn't scripted, but I'd take that to be as accurate as Wikipedia to be honest.

yea i'm not all about wiki but that article did cite tarantino's dvd commentary and an 'in the actor's studio' with hopper as backup.

Which scene?, I appear to be a bit of a whore on this thread. Most of the scenes chosen are individual speeches.

Thanks Gustavo, best rant ever put on celluloid methinks.I was refering to Odd man Out Harpo which for my money just edges Carl Reeds most celbrated work the wonderful thirdman. Also enjoyed that post by Bluebeard. At first glance that scene from a touch of evil appears to be all the one take?

Yup, that's what tipped it for me - one remarkable single take of 3m10s starting with the bomb being set and going all over the shop around the town featuring some of the key players right up to the explosion - unparalled in my opinion in cinema. Great direction, choreography of the actors movements, cinematography, even use of sound levels - the work of a genius. Up there with this underrated moment from the Citizen Kane (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yX-EJ8BCCTU) - what emotional power, what a performance from the mother, and father, what grand understanding of the working of the adult world in contrast to those of the parent and the child, such technical virtuosity - where are the tracks in that pull back from the window?

Great to see Doctor Who as a Belfast Barman too - some very good selections here. Hadn't seen 25th Hour before - very keen to see it now!

My favorite scene is from Chasing Amy where Holden decides to tell Alyssa (His Lesbian friend) that he's in love with her! the dialogue is pure genius

Loads of great dialogue in Chasing Amy
The monologue at the start from Hooper X on the role of black characters in the realm of "Sci-Fi/Fantasy"
The scene where Alyssa is singing in a club, and Holden thinks it's for him, then realises where he REALLY is has no dialogue at all (apart from the song) and is priceless
The scene Block G lists above
The arguement at the hockey game
The end scene at the comic convention a year later with Banky talking to the fan, and holding a wordless conversation with Holden at the same time "a shared moment"

Great scene but her whining voice annoys me
My favourite scene from that is at the start when your man is doing his Black Panther spiel and then the little boy comes over when he's talking to Ben Affleck :D
