A week to go and down here everyone's going on about the buzz being back. It's been missing for a while, certainly last season. Loads of hype among fans.

There was a meet the players in the northside of the city last week and apparently there were about 1000 people turned up, a lot of kids.

It's great to see and there's clearly huge work being done by our CPO and Marketing Director.
Of course this whole bubble could burst if we don't beat Bray Friday....

So what's it like everywhere else.

Is the buzz there? Expectations high? more excitement? Compared to last season for instance?

Also is there much 'visible' promotional work being done by the CPO's?

The buzz is high among our fans too. Turnout at pre-season games was huge and I'd expect our biggest crowd since 2006 on Friday. We have the squad to win the league and after our fine showings the last few weeks I think the fans expect something special. I can't wait for Friday

Bring it on, i cant wait for it. The best pre-season in years and anyone i'm speaking to just itchin' for Fridays night again. And so much else happening, tv coverage, CPO doing loads of work, new website, etc. I think its going to be a cracker of a season. We should cancel off seasons from here on in.

It's coming to the time of year again, where the week begins and ends on a Friday night, not Monday and Sunday.

I'm so-so about the new season. Not foaming at the mouth or anything at the return of football but I am looking forward to it.

I'd agree. Seagulls fans don't do excitement:)

here in longford we are very positive with the way the club is run now...the lads are training in longford now and we dont have as many dubs as before.. we are spreading our wings a bit.. this is the biggest turnover in players since 1998-99 season under stephen kenny. we wont go up this year but a nice little cup run will do wonders for the lads as this is one of the youngest squads we had ever had!

in aaron callaghan and vinny perth we could have the makings of an excellent managerial partnership and you will see more of these lads in longford than with a certain cork city manager...

Not feeling the buzz to be honest. The usual round off-season crisis(es?), last minute pulling together of a squad, failing to sign some of the better players, countless rumours and mis-information, and a very un-inspiring pre-season, it all takes its toll.

That said, I'm sure I'll get back into when it all kicks off again, and especially looking forward to the away-days again :)

Too true.:D

For us it is a massive first few weeks. We have a double derby week with Linfield in the Setanta and Harps on the Friday.

As for a buzz we're for Cork on Good Friday. Flying Belfast-Cork, then Cork-London, London-Derry. €35 all in total. Carbon footprint me hole, it is needs must to get to the game. Cheap than a one way on the train!

Didn't expect to see that typed by a Derry fan, regardless of the circumstances...

I'm buzzing big time, however judging by the mediocre turn out for the Bohs Blitz on Saturday I'd say I'm in the minority

Oh how I miss this. This is usually the case for Kilkenny City every year but not this year unfortunately :(

It's harder to get excited about the new season when your team has just dropped out of senior football.

Well I am thankful we are still in it, but even so things could be better.

I do feel bad for you though bud, could just as easily have been us on the outside looking in.

Well, in my apartment, at least.

It's either another one of those kooky Japanese crazes.

Or you need to get a flatmate.

As a Shels supporter, I must say I cannot wait for kick off. I believe we have a realistic chance of going up and, in our current predicament, getting promoted would be as worthy of celebration as anything we have ever achieved. After such a long time without live football, I would have to say that I cannot understand a supporter of any club saying they are not excited. If that ever happens to me, I will just give it up.

Roll on Friday, it's been too long.

Agree completely. I've been suffering from eL withdrawal symptoms all winter. UCD away for the first game of the season. Couldn't be better, I've been looking forward to getting to a Derry-UCD game in Belfield since I came to college.

Friday: last day of term in Trinity. First game of the season.

The only question now is whether to wear a TCD hoodie as well as a Derry City scarf to the game:D

I agree, the league starting and the last day of term is great alright! There will be a few Dundalk fans in the Pav on Friday afternoon warming up for the Shels game. :ball: :)

Yeah it's kind scarin' me too! I just have a feeling that we will come good this season. I am pleasantly surprised by pre-season results and signings. If nothing else, at least we have our Friday nights in Tolka (for a season anyhow!). Reckon we'll get a reasonably good crowd in tomorrow and hopefully a competitive game. I'm going for two one to Shels.
