The cost of our player sponsorship for the season is being sorted out next week. I was wondering for a comparision what other teams both Premier and First have set theirs at.

Pats - €300 a player
You get a polo shirt and your name in every programme and on official site

All are sold as of yesterday

Good to hear that Danny.

Our system was that we would aim for a number (22?) of significant business sponsors all contributing a lump sum of (I think) €3,000 to participate in a draw for the main Kit sponsor name. A draw is held (29th Feb this year), and the first out gets their name on the kit. All the other participants then get to "Sponsor" a player for the year, presumably on a draw basis with the next out getting to choose their player and so on down the line of those who remain. It has been quite successful so far and is about to enter its third season like this.

On one hand it means that we don't really get a major name sponsor or the money behind it (theoretically, if we could raise the money, the Independent Blues Supporters Club could be the Kit sponsor if the draw went right!), but then again the likelihood of raising as major an amount as we can do by raffling it off is slimmer.

Gets your name in each programme.
Dunno if anything else comes with it.
There is a bunch of us going to sponsor Shane Guthrie in the Ramblers Forum.

I wonder if we get him as a slave for a day for that???:D

The Brochure for the scheme is here (http://www.waterford-united.ie/Sponsor%20brochure%202008.pdf), if any of you happen to have €3000 lying around...

Sponsor a player's home jersey is €200, away jersey €100.

You get your name/business name in the match programme each week and receive the player's signed jersey at the end of the season.

Its €300 to sponsor a Shels player (home or away0 and for that you get your name in every programme, 4 tickets to a home game and a signed jersey from that player at the end of the season.

Last season not everyone took up the offer of the signed jersey so there was an online auction for several jersies, if memory serves me correctly the club raised around €2000 in the auction

Better hope then he doesn't break it - those things cost a lot to replace.

Its been brought down to 600.

Season ticket and name in every programme is what you get.

Might be a bit steep but all money helps the club
