Does anyone remember a jersey Ireland wore for one match in the early 80's? It was made by O'Neills and it was green with a thick orange hoop across the upper part of the jersey. It was for a home game at Lansdowne, I was at it but can't remember the opposition. My abiding memory of the game was that the new East stand had just recently been open and half of the fans in the terrace below managed to climb the wall and avail of the seats in the half empty stand. I was only young so had to stay in the terrace:(

Ahhh that bus to San Marino was pretty good, I will give him that, getting the driver to allow us to drink would have been legendary status.

Really appreciate that, Many thanks. I wonder why they dropped it after only one game it wasn't that bad a kit, though at the time with O'Neills the home jerseys changed without notice and it was always a bit of a gamble buying one.

Around that time (when we went from O'Neills to Adidas) there were many different kit variations ... four or five I think. I suspect the change in kit manufacturers has something to do with it but I've never heard anything official on the subject so that's just a guess really!

That is from the late 1990s but its difficult to date precisely because the senior side never played in it:
