I hate having a go about the website but it needs some serious updating. No pics of new players, surely it's not hard to get one, they train every couple of days. Even Paul Cook's pic is of him with another club and not Rovers. No profile on Gerry Carr, just Cook and Mickey Robinson. Hutch is still down as u-21 manager. Oliver Davey down as Event Controller, with John Murtagh as safety officer[both have since stepped down]. 2008 fixture list isn't up under the 'fixtures' heading. Jason McCartney and Sean Kelly are listed as members of the first team squad under the 'youth academy' section. McCarrick's garage is listed as the provider of the manager's car yet it was Peter Mooney Motors that gave Paul Cook a car recently, I'm sure the Peugeot garage is happy as still being listed though(bit of free publicity for him). I'm sure there's probably more if I looked hard enough.
I know everyone who runs the site probably have other jobs etc. but theirs 7 names listed as being part of the website. Surely between them all, things could be kept (relatively) up to date.

Perhaps, you could get involved...Predicted that response:rolleyes:. My name isn't on that list, other people have obviously wanted to do it. Between seven people I think there is enough to do a sufficient job, would you not think so?
EDIT: As I've said, I don't like having a go at who runs the site as they probably have other jobs, commitments etc. but we are supposed to be a professional club after all.

A suggestion of 'why don't you do it' isn't helping things, you may say neither is complaining but I'm pointing out the mistakes that can be fixed easily enough by those in charge at the moment.

Bring back Sean Connor - with his PR experience he'd be able to keep it up to date.

Some of the problems sorted now, the rest will be done soon.Things change very quickly at the club and little things sometimes slip by sligoman. There is seven but i think its only 3-4 who update it. The picture situation....it's not a big deal. and it will be dealt with when the squad is finalized I would say.

Just checking the website for a match report for the Drogheda game and it's very disappointing to note that there's not much change there since the last time I visited.
I was on the Drogheda site yesterday and not only was there a match report but photos as well. I know there has been long debates here on the state of our playing surface but judgeing by the state of the website we are in the doldrums there also. The home page photo of Mickey McNamara lifting the First Division trophy is a tad out of date, you know he has lifted the Nester Cup since that for the GAA.
Paul Doolin in an interview on their website comments on the state of the pitch and compares it to pitches he played on when he first started playing over twenty years ago. Are we going to become known as the club time forgot?

Have you read any of the famous Drogheda match reports? Far more embarrassing than anything available - or unavailable - on any other club website. :p

I've been off-line for the last few days so only able to access the team picture today - it's there now ( squad photo was only taken last friday and I'm awaiting the head shots of all players.)
re the mathc report from saturday last, apologies for the late addition, we had a few server problems over the weekend which are still causing a few problems with uploading. our aim is to have the result posted immediately post match with a match report posted at the latest the following day.
In terms of photos generally, our photo man is up to his eyes with other Rovers stuff at the mo, and simply hasn't time to upload the photos, but hopefully we'll have this back asap.
people really need to get a decent dose of reality in relation to the website, I told the club two years ago that I was stepping away from it due to personal commitments, but there was noone willing to step in to take over. luckily Rory, Gus, Michael and Conall have continued to contribute and the club have got a lot better at providing info, so in terms of content, I think we are at least as good as most of the LOI sites out there.
there's a couple of problems to deal with. the site doesn't look anything as good as other sites because we've no money to upgrade it and insufficient web knowledge to get around the fact that we have no money. if you look at the better sites, their content, in many cases is no better than ours. It just looks a lot slicker.
there's a lot more that I would like to have on the site in terms of under-age results, multi-media, features etc, but there is no rush forward from the masses to come in and help us. that's the reality, like most other elelments associated with the club, it's done on a voluntary basis, with no costs to the club.
this thread has been useful in terms of identifying issues and the lads have worked extremely hard in the last few weeks to get things back up to date. we certainly don't mind a bit of critisism ( except from sligoman ;) ) as long as its constructive and grounded in some sort of appreciation of what is required to maintain a website.

hey lads,
Anyone know where i can get good quality pictures of Sligo Rovers Away Jersey for this season?
I cant find any good pictures on it besides the 2008 Squad photo.
I know that they have a different sponsor for the home and the away for this year.
If anyone knows any sites or fans that could help me out then that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
