"Giovanni Trapa-no-knee"

Just months into the Ireland managers job it's been announced that Giovannai Trappatoni will require knee replacement surgery. He was the victim of a horror tackle, in training, by Stephen Hunt

Or if he's getting arrogant after beating Serbia:
Less of the ClapTrap

Or to get him to applaud the fans:
More of the ClapTrap

Or if he gets caught with a nasty infection:
Gio's ClapTrap

FAI Trap-a-phony

Exclusive
by Staff Reporter

Today The Irish Stun can exclusively reveal that the FAI have fallen victim of an elaborate hoax. Giovanni Trappatoni is, in fact, settling into life in a quiet retirement village just outside Turin, after being issued with an ultimate to retire by his loving wife.
The man in charge of the Irish national team is a lookalike with no footballing background.

After a disastrous introduction to life as Ireland manager questions were being asked about the appointment of Trappatoni. He failed to win any of his first three games in charge and reports emerged from the camp of bizzare training sessions and team talks. The truth can now be revealed. Mrs Trappatoni has been quoted as saying 'we are happily retired Gio didn't want the job, but the FAI insisted. The money is paying for our lovely retirement home. We thought no one would notice, what with the Ireland team being rubbish anyway'.

Apparently some of our red tops, keeping character with some of the "achtung Surrender" headlines their parent publications have sunk to in the past, couldn't resist referencing Italys facist past and went for "Il Gaffer".

S'pose it could be a pope thing either.
