View Full Version : Former UCD players
I usually only post after I've been to a game. Due to my 5 day student status during term time and my incarceration down the country I haven't been to many games this year.
On another topic, have ye noticed how so many ex-UCD players are performing well for other clubs...Myler,Fitzpatrick,Martyn, Ryan. Makes ya sick dosen't it...

Don't forget Robbie Doyle, scored in his last 2 starts and if he gets a run in the team will go on to score a ****load more :D
A little queezy alright, but only because our fellas aren't doing the stuff. Morale must be low enough, but i have faith. We have a good squad. They just need to start playing together. I believ Doolin is a super manager, yet he lacks experience.

Just to clarify our sales -
Robbie Doyle was putting on weight with the part-time training, which is apparently why he was left out of the team for the last few games of last season. He's a class striker (got an u-21 cap with us) who'll do very well with the full-time training at Bohs.
Don't know why we sold Mulvihill. He was scoring bags in the reserves. Then again, so did Kilmurray!
Most of our players are sold becuase we can't afford to keep them or they want to move on to a bigger club. We've the best facilities in the league, so if we could start doing consistently well in the league and build up a fan base, we would start holding on to more of our players. Which means we'd start winning things in a few years (seriously).
Imagine the following team:
Barry Ryan
Terry Palmer
Tony McCarthy
Tony McDonnell
Alan Mahon
James Keddy
Alan Cawley
Ciarán Martyn
Jason Colwell
Andy Myler
Robbie Doyle
Subs: Shay Kelly, Aidan Lynch, Ciarán Kavanagh, Glen Fitzpatrick, Robbie Martin.
Squad members: Johnny Martin, Rob McAuley, Alan McNally, Hugh Davey, Ciarán Kavanagh.
That's a class team which would be challenging for the title without doubt.
Southampton used to be like that - their best XI is class, with Shearer, le Tissier, Wallace, Flowers, Ruddock, etc. but they had to sell their players 'cos they were a small team. Now they've grown, got a bigger stadium and they're a very good side now. That's our model for the future...

I think they sent him through that machine from "The Fly" with Derek Swan - now he's got Swaninho's ability and Glen's youth advantage and looks...:)
Which means that somewhere out there, the real Derek Swan is now as good a footballer as our Glen was
