I don't think he will. Rogers will hold his position I think.

Ditto, i know very little about Rouse but I don't see him gettin ahead of Rogers any time soon, barring injury.

Alvin Rouse isn't anywhere near the keeper that Gary Rodgers is.

I dont think Rodgers is great so is Rouse a poor keeper?

IMO Rouse is a reasonable first division keeper and no more than that.

The little I know about Rouse is that he's meant to be a tiny bit dodgy. Going on last season Rogers was very reliable imo.

Rouse is an unreal shot stopper, the rest of his game is dodgy though. Always had brilliant games against us for some reason

If memory serves me right, he frustrated us quite a bit too when playing with the Ben Bulben Boys

Why have we got 2 very average goalkeepers it seems a waste of money?

Who here thinks Rogers is only average? Granted he had a bit of a dodgy start last year, but with goughie training him he has come on leaps and bounds, and I think he is an excellent keeper now. I for one am more than happy to have Rogers in goals.

You have answered the question yourself he was dodgy at the start and ended up average at the end of the season. now we have according to other posters got a dodgy keeper as back up?. Hardly top 6 material
Gary was brilliant in the second half of last season and im quite happy to have him as first choice. I wont make up my mind about Rouse until I actually see him play. The negativity is astounding sometimes.

1 minute our keeper is off to England the next he only good enough for the first division and our other keeper is somewhere between dodgy and brilliant. At least the matter is now cleared up.

The only part of his game that was dodgy early on was his distribution. That's not an issue anymore. I feel we have an excellent keeper, definately not an average keeper. Definatley the best since Goughie was Utd's keeper in the mid 90's.
Gordongekko, What would you expect from our keeper that Gary can't deliver? Please don't refer to the first series of games last season, as that's not exactly relevant anymore.

Im not saying anything against Gary he is our number one keeper i just said i think he is average and that im not sure why we added another keeper who may be dodgy or not depending on who you believe. surely we should have added a keeper who is better than what we have?. I just cant remember Gary having any game winning matches or him making any top drawer saves so i just think he is average and there is nothing wrong with him being average. Hopefully he will have improved during the off season and will now be above average. But he is no where near as good as Alan was when he was playing.
you obviously werent at many away games last season. 2 games in particular the Longford game away and Bray Away he was as good as any Keeper ive ever seen in a Galway Jersey.

Rogers won us a lot of points last year with some top quality saves. His kickouts in his first few games were so bad, consideration was being given to mounting a Triple B Campaign - Bring Back Brinias - but he improved in that area as the season went on.

I've seen both of them. I rate Gary Rodgers tbh, not top class but certainly up to Galway's needs right now. Similarly my negativity towards Rouse is based on the fact that he's fairly dodgy at times, can look excellent one second but always well capable of dropping a clanger too.

NO, it was the game when we beat bray 1-0 away for our first win of the season, he made 2 crucial saves . one from delaney in particular was world class.
how about the save on 59 seconds? http://youtube.com/watch?v=3KtA9dU0t4o

It was a decent save but where was he for the longford goal?

If you watched the video you would see that he parry s the effort on front post. I can't believe anybody would complain about our defense!! we conceeded less goals (by alot) then sligo, bray, longford, waterford, ucd.
last year we only conceeded more than 1 goal on 2 occasions. i would be alot more concerned upfront than in defense. there isn't many better goalkeepers than Gary Rogers knocking around the place, Rouse will only be cover.

A good save here around the 3min mark and again around 3.30 but gave away a peno and should have saved the second goal
