Mbeki assures 2010 World Cup

afrol News, 8 February - South African President Thabo on Friday delivered the much anticipated state of nation address, apologising the nation for the troubles caused by the power crisis. He allayed fears that the power crisis would hamper his country's hosting of the World Cup in 2010.

President assured his government’s resolve to address all its compelling challenges "in a relatively short period." With the appointment of the new manager, there's a real sense of hope for Ireland in the next world cup. Of course, the proof will be in the pudding - let's hope our optimism is reflected in qualifier results.

However, it would be a shame if all the hard work and (probable) rollercoaster of emotions along the way ended in a shambles of a tournament.

Maybe I'm being selfish, but the thought of the World Cup in SA just doesn't really get me excited.

Ireland playing in the World Cup in Australia though - that would be something. :D

Ho hum.

As I would, but I wouldn't trust Mbeki on anything even if he said he was the South African President

My Mrs has just come back from Cape Town and the new stadium is apparently all on schedule to be completed this year
