View Full Version : Genius ideas
Up in Glenavon last night and 20 minutes before kickoff a lad went tru all the bars (4 of them i heard) and handed out photocopied team sheets.
Bloody brilliant idea shame we couldnt do it down here as our clubs incapable of handing them in on time.

How is that a genius idea?
How is that a genius idea?
Cos they give out the teamsheets as soon as the ref gets them.
Honestly didnt think that needed explaining, but there you go some people just dont get the simple things.

Cos they give out the teamsheets as soon as the ref gets them.Hardly genius though? Sure what difference does it make getting the team sheet 20mins before the game, go to the game before k/o and you'll hear the team being called out.

What was the point of that, then?
If this happened in the cross, the only result would be a thousand paper airplanes flying around. I think the 2 announcements are enough

What if no one heard them or was late coming in, how could they know instead of looking at pitch figuring out who is there.

But if they were late, wouldn't they have missed them being handed out too?

Thats true :D
What about those sheets get handed out as you enter the stadium ?

But if they were late, wouldn't they have missed them being handed out too?No because they'd be handed out in the pub and the reason they're late is because they were in the pub;)

This is possibly the only thing I've never ever heard a complaint about re: the match day experience. Kudos, Pats fan, kudos. ;)

So were supposed to print and hand out a few thousand sheets for the few people who are late and can't ask the person next to them or figure it out from looking at the pitch?
I dunno, I just don't really see the point

therein lies the difference, that wouldn't be a problem at some other clubs :D

Take that plural back...
Anyway, Glenavon's ground was absolutely superb. A model for what Irish grounds should be.

I'd say a good 80% of the people that were handed the team sheets threw them away, so not that great an idea really. And just think of the poor trees

Thats Glentoran. I've been there and although it's not a great ground, i love it. Especially the huge "JESUS" sign.
As for Mourneview, it look likes a decent little stadium alright.

Its pretty decent for any ground on the island, Shelbourne & Cork aside would anything down south compare?
Think it only holds 5000 now so for the visits of Linfield, Glentoran, Portadown & Cliftonville, maybe.
Also the potential is there. When Portadown & Glenavon were challenging for honours in the mid 90's I attended several 6000+ games at Moanview, and the title decider of '94 had 8000+ there....we drew 2-2 and handed the title to Linfield though

i think a good idea would be a half hour before the game all pubs within 2 miles of the stadium should be made close and hunt all the barstoolers out to support the team.
