If the Bible gives it 5 stars then it's gotta be good

They also gave Attack of the Clones 5 stars as well, lets face it, when it comes to blockbuster reviewing Empire are the equivelent of sending a 14 year old to a peep show.

Superman Returns however was a very enjoyable movie :)

Ok so we've got very different movie taste's Jebus. I'd give Episode II a comfortable 5 stars, Superman returns is dull and boring and I have yet to sit through it without falling asleep

My God man, 5 stars for Episode 2!!!!! Empire have even apologised in their magazine for giving it that high score!! I'd honestly give it 2/5, Superman would easily get a 3.5/5

BGR you seem a nice guy so dont take this personally when I say......

Attack of the clones?????? one of the worst films ever!!!! Even a few years later removed from all the hype and expectation it doesnt stand up as a good film.

I disagree, I'm a big Star Wars fan so obviously slightly Biased. ATOTC was not all that bad in retrospect, It was a damn site better than the Phantom Muppets
although doesn't come close to revenge of the Sith or the Holy trilogy It is far from one of the worst movies ever

Out of interest of keeping this off topic :) how would you rate the 6 Star Wars movies? I was a big fan of the originals but thought the new ones were muck, eher's my ratings anyway:

Phantom Menace 1/5 (gets that one for Darth Maul, and Darth Maul alone)
Attack of the Clones 2/5
Revenge of the Sith 3/5
New Hope 4/5
Empire 6/5 :)
Return of the Jedi 4/5

Revenge of the Sith 5/5(absolutely loved this movie and it also gave a fresh new look on the Holy trilogy)
New Hope 4/5
Empire 260/5 :)

I was a complete and utter star wars nerdywell so i found the background and setting up of the stories in the phantom menace really good i was mad interested to see how the charactors came about, Found the effects/story/battles quite poor.

You have to consider the memory of the original ones is a childs memory the excitment/fear etc all stick with it watching the new ones as an adult doesnt and never would have the same impact.

Id give
PM 2.5/5
AOTC 4/5
ROTS 4/5

New hope 4/5
Empire 5/5
Return 4/5

Rereleased with added special effects versions of the first 3

NH 2/5
Empire 3/5
return 2/5

Dont mess with them !!!!!

Cloverfield i am not holding out much hope for.

Starwars Trivia(no googling now!!) Question 1
What is the name of the band from the cantina scene in A New Hope?

See I don't get why people rate Revenge of the Sith so highly. The Emperor in fairness was fantastic, as good as anything the originals produced, but to me it detroyed the two main characters in the Star Wars universe, Vader/Anakin and Yoda.

Vader because his role in the grand scheme of things was reduced to a completely beaten man, both by Obi Won in battle, and by his love of Padme, the scene of Vader shouting 'Nooooooo' at the end is possible the worst character massacre I have ever witnessed in a cinema. His all around bad ass reputation in Eps 4-6 for me was completely ruined, especially as the Chose One was defeated in battle by Obi Won, and Darth Vader was shown to be a pale shadow of what Anakin was, and could have been, in terms of the power he held. I understand that in ways that is a goor progression of the story, but I don't think the movies explained it as well as the books did.

Yoda on the other hand had his 'Greatest of All Jedi' mantle taken from him completly. I mean he couldn't beat Count Dooku in Eps 2, despite Anakin making pretty easy work of Dooku in Eps 3, and the Emperor completly destroyed him in the final battle. Again I know this shows the humbling of the Jedi, but still, it was a shame to feed Star Wars two strongest characters to the grinder.

Thats not mentioning the timeline flaws throught Eps 1-3 as well, Jar Jar or figgin ET showing up along the way

I disagree I think making Vader more human and vulnerable makes it easier to relate to him I also think that it makes it easier to contemplate the possibility that Luke may actually go over to the Darkside, in that he's always been the nice farm boy who would never have anything in common with Darth Vader and now as a result of the prequels we discover that Anakin wasn't that much different from Luke to begin with and show's the path to the darkside in way's that yoda's ramblings in Empire never could
The Model Nodes isn't it?Close very close if you give me the lead singer I'll give it to you

When we meet Luke is roughly the age Anakin is in Eps 2, and comparing their characters Anakin is very much a tweener (someone who flicks between good and evil), where as Luke is a stereotypical all-American hero (if you will). As Eps 4-6 progresses and Luke grows into his power you never once see that power hungry flicker that is always there with Anakin, so if anything it distanced Luke even more from Vader for me

I agree the undercurrent of a lust for revenge runs through anakin but his capacity for good is what eventually leads to his turning ie his love for Padme (and I mean who can blame him she's well tasty) and trying to save her, also believing that she betrayed him to Obi-wan.

Also as I said in a previous light the Saga gives new life to the Trilogy in that Vader was to all intents and purposes a 2 dimensional character for much of the original trilogy(and i know a lot of people liked him that way) The new Movies and also as you have mentioned the novels have given much more depth to vader's character for me anyway

oh by the way the answer to Question 1 is Figurin' Dan and the Modal Nodes

Its Anakins Ego that gets him because he knows from a very early age that he is going to be great and obi won has to struggle to keep him from loosing control where Luke never had that problem as he finds out much later in his life and obi won was able to achive what he never could with Anakin.

I like the way Vader wasnt allways pure evil it makes the realisation at the end of his life much more believable.

Read some of the books in the expanded universe and they play up Luke threatening to fall to the Dark Side quite a bit.
Does the same with Leia and Han's children
