I don't think he made it as far as the first team. I remember marking him when he played for Cartron Utd...................which kinda sums up his potential and career:o

MarthinoII is correct Paddy Sweeney played on the IT Sligo team in 96- 98.

Sound lad , looper with a few beers on, hard tackling midfielder and mad Celtic fan.

Played most appearances for Rovers as a Sub.

They have flown by alright, have to Paddy is being a little ecomonmical with the trutch listing the trophies on his Bio pic, not sure he ahd too much to do with those achievements in fairness.

Come Again????

Apologies for the spelling on the last post.

Thats what happens when you are sending a sneaky post from work!!

Paddy states his achievements on the website as follows .........

Sligo Rovers Professional Team - Premier League; League Cup Winner, 1998; League Cup Runner-up, 1996; Irish News Cup Runner-up, 1996/97

Finn Harps FC - Irish 1st Division

....my point being he had little or nothing to do with those as he was only a reserve squad member when the clubs won those trophies.

He is as I say and always was a chancer....but a hell of a good guy!!

Paddy Sweeney - a top man & genuine nice bloke. He was a good footballer, used to play up front. He was a member of the Rovers & Harps squads that won those honours, so why not list them? Good to see he is doing well for himself in the states.

Aye, I mean if Sean Connor hadn't listed his achievements would we ever have known about his glittering career.?

Anyone remember Skip (http://www2.etown.edu/sports/msoccer/coach.asp)?

Although he's listed here as having played for "Slingo Rovers".

Plus, another ex-Rovers player has hit the international (http://www.carynews.com/sports/story/8098.html) big-time. :D

Yes! I remember Skip being at the club and he was something of a cult hero at the time. Similar to the cult hero Kevin Julian has become recently.

He was Part of the clubs squads but played mostly(couple of sub appearances for first team) for the reserves and would not have any winners medals for the trophies he has outlined thats why.

It's like an under 18 player putting them on his CV who was at the club at the time - nonesense.

I suppose you are getting all 13 badges for Eur 27.50 +postage working out about eur 2 each.

Strange that, according to the sales blurb, they are newly made badges that are copies of the originals.

Why someone/some company would do that off their own bat is a bit strange to me, if it was a Premier League club with potentially thousands of sales fair enough but Eircom League club is unlikely to be a cash cow for them.

Dont know if I would risk my money on that one.
