playstation 2 keyboard and mouse question

as the title suggests, im wonderin if any of u know if all usb keyboards and usb mice work with a playstation 2 or are there certain makers/models that have to be bought

im buyin a quake3 type game for me nephew, but i also want to get him a keyboard and mouse so he can play it properly. my problem is i dont have a ps2 to find out for meself and the local shops of the town i live in dont know either

id appreciate any help

As far as I know as long as it's USB connections on the keyboard/mouse you should be fine, as there are two USB connections on the front of the PS2.
