McFaul has signed for Scunthorpe until January. Don't know if it's a loan or trial or what.

Where else?;)

I have a feeling it might only be a loan deal as I'm almost certain that our players' contracts last until January.

Interesting that Shane McFaul joins Scunthorpe shortly after it's finally become on the allowed list of words for foot.ie :D

McFaul is only actually on loan to Scunthorpe. If he moves abroad we're due a very small fee for him.

Not unless he's on a two year contract.

It seems that's changed. Even a year's worth something now.

It's only if he moves abroad. Some domestic club training fee. It'd be a very small sum.

McFaul going on trial at Brighton according to the Sun. Also says that Scunthorpe have offered him a contract.

Brighton fans decidedly underwhelmed (http://northstandchat.biz/showthread.php?t=117149).

Still, good move for McFaul and one which should raise the club's profile a bit more in England. Now to find the next Dicker/McFaul...

That link won't work btw. What are they underwhelmed with? They're midtable League One and they've signed an U-21 international with several years first team experience for next to nothing.

Link fixed now.

They're a Division Two side who've signed a player they've never heard of from a part-time Irish club. They want to spend a nice bit of cash on a big name player who'll propel them into the play-offs and further. Stands to reason really.

McFaul made his Brighton debut at the weekend (some sources credited it to Chamberlain, but it was McFaul). Came on in the 90th minute, miscontrolled one pass badly, and that was it. Seems he'll be in around the team anyway ocne he gets match fitness back.

Stockport go two points off the play offs after another good win today; Dicker started as per usual.

What a waste. Don't suppose there's a chance in hell of him ending up back here.

Either Division Three or one of the top six here, I'd say.

Wouldn't say no to taking him back, of course!

I presume as a free agent he is allowed to move to any club whether out side of transfer windows are not?

Cant see him coming back, not many players do, do they?
Could really do with him however!

Overlapping season would be taken intoma account and he would be free to play for anyone overhere.

Hardly massive interest really. Would expect more. Decent player, and an Irish U-21 international while with us.

he barely made the grade to play loi football, finn is a better midfielder and he has not been linked to a team across the seas. its amazing what an agent can do for you. let a first division club sign him so he can go where he belongs

Are you mad? It would be great to have McFaul back in the centre alongside Finn. You could put Kinger on the right or use them all in a three man midfield when playing with one striker. That said, I can't see him coming back to us.

Careful now. We don't want to imply that eleven-a-side is staffed by lazy hacks and drug abusing buffoons. That would be libellous. ;)

Is it me or is it a bit strange Brighton released something like 10 players and then in the next day or two announce that Micky Adams will be there new manager? Surely they would wait to appoint Adams and let him decide which of these players he believes should be realeased!

From the horse's mouth (via another two horses) that he can only play for us cos of the three club rule.

Someone must have got it mixed up. After all the hassle last year the rule was changed that if a player plays for two teams who seasons overlap he can play for a third club.

Would he not have had to be released by the end of the transfer window to play, regardless of the 3 club rule?

That I don't know. Clubs are allowed sign free agents but unsure about the above. Sounds right as three club rule wouldn't actually come into effect as it's two clubs because he's re-joining us.

Im pretty sure you can only sign/play players that were released during the last transfer window, even if they are free agents

TheBoss

The rule is:

Any player who is not under contract can sign for any team at any time.

The 3 club rule does not come into effect, that is for one single season, but McFaul played in the 2007 season, then 2007/08 season and now is the 2008 season.

I dont think so. Id be very confident that they cant play if they havent been released before the transfer window closes
