I notice Stephen Ireland started on the bench for todays game.
Maybe Ireland will find himself playing for neither City or Ireland?

It's only the second time this season he didn't start a game for City, and both times he's been introduced from the bench.
If I had to guess, I reckon Sven thought Sheffield United's more physical approach wouldn't suit Ireland's game so he didn't start Ireland and brought him on to try and change the game.

He doesn't have the squad at present and he knows it. Some of the players he has brought in haven't quite clicked in the Premiership. Bianchi (gone back to Italy with Lazio), Giovanni, Corrado? (L.B who got roasted at Chelsea in the 6-0 game) Gelson looks a good player, Boijinov has been un-lucky with injury though I think he will be a force when fit. Think Zach Johnson has been injured too.
I think Sven said himself he was being frustrated in the transfer market. That clubs weren't willing to part with the players he wanted during this farce of a transfer window.
